Nah, our chairman bought the stadium with £94 million out of his own pocket, as is well documented. He's a lifelong fan, you know. Not some shady Russian mafioso or Far Eastern shyster with no connection to the city and nothing but pound signs in his eyes. Our promotion team cost, what, £300k for Greer, £300k three seasons ago for Murray, £300k odd for Noone, pennies for Barnes and Bennett. Most of the rest were free or youth team products.

Whereas you paid Sol Campbell £90k a week. Yeah I can see where the comparison lies :lol

Typical deluded Pompey fan. I bet you think its all your fans that have suffered the most too, don't you?

Typical....unlikely
Deluded....certainly not
Take a bet....please do, you'll lose your stake

Well documented.....you mean the press ?
£94m out of a recently benevolent pocket....not been on this planet long I'm guessing.

You've been watching the lower leagues too long Finchley. Your other comments.............

Good answer to my points. Seems you haven't really got an argument, have you? Anyway, I was speaking to a decent Portsmouth fan on the way back yesterday (surprisingly there are a few) and he was saying you need to stop fouling constantly and actually try to play football. Sadly it sounds like he is in the sane minority. Interestingly, I notice that you got 8 bookings in your first two games so I would say that backs up the argument that you were a dirty side. I think what annoys you most is that we had a referee who played by the rules rather than letting you get away with the fouls. Ironically, with you talking about diving, the only dive I saw yesterday was Kanu to win a free kick on the edge of the Brighton area in the second half. One the referee did get wrong.

As for Dave Kitson. I take it we were diving to try and get him sent off (nothing to do with him being a moron and coming on the pitch solely to clatter Brighton players). All I will say to finish is Benjani better be good as your shots yesterday tended to be nearer the corner flag than the goal.

Recently benevolent...well the Bloom family have been on the Albion board for three generations. Thats even older than Kanu I believe. Does that qualify as a Johnny Come Lately for you or would it need to be four generations?

And please...tell me how your fans have suffered then? I'm genuinely INTRIGUED to know how you think a few years in the Premier League and two cup finals constitutes suffering. In fact by most club's standards that's party time.

Hmmmm! As a Pompey fan I saw it slightly different. We lost....so be it.......but I was mightly unimpressed by Albion yesterday. Gus Poyet has your team employing South American tactics of diving and rolling about on the floor not seen from an opposition at Fratton since the early eighties. Truly awful to watch to the extent I hope sincerely your team gets a solid thumping from someone soon. Sour grapes ? May be ......but really, I don't want to have to pay so much money to watch that kind of rubbish again.

I think it's great that the match officials are favouring the teams who try to get the ball down and pass it, play with flair and invention, instead of you hack 'em and hoof it merchants.

You need to read my post more carefully on both points.....ho hum!

'Recently benevolent' doesn't say 'Johnny come lately'......if the family has been on the board for three generations and the man concerned is a lifelong supporter as you say, he seems to have been happy to stand by and watch the club get itself into deep trouble before finally opening his wallet?

As for suffering....you seem to want me to be, but I'm not. We've had a brilliant recent and more distant history.....you may find out one day what that is like.

It will be interesting to see how you miss read this post edna....

Just a shame your "brilliant recent history" was entirely built on screwing schools, ambulances and small businesses out of what they were rightfully owed, eh?

There is a Football League club in Sussex who have been involved in highly dodgy financial shenanigans with completely bent owners in the past, who have flirted with admin time & time again, whose manager beats even Redknapp when it comes to pissing off the taxman, and whose ownership even now is shrouded in suspicion and secrecy.

But it's not us.

While I don't think we're impressive, if you were unimpressed, perhaps your expectations were too high. We're without our best player from last season, and the new players are bedding in.

Well now you're just being silly.
but really, I don't want to have to pay so much money to watch that kind of rubbish again.
So stop going to Fratton park.

What was that song you lot were singing after the final whistle .....'we're brilliant'.....? Deluded.
That's just a throw back from a couple of games last season where we did play well. Not appropriate for yesterday, but we were about to win so it was just a celbratory song, no need to take it so literally.
No I'm not kidding and if your team were running rings round us how come we had so many chances on your goal in the last 20?
We weren't running rings around you. You're just getting a reastion to the shit you posted suggesting Gus has taught us to dive.
Believe me there are better playing teams than Brighton in the division.
No shit. I expect we'll have some bad defeats, but (shock horror) we're going to celebrate when we do win.

The club got into trouble when it was bought by crooks in the mid 90s when Tony Bloom was in his 20s. He wasn't really in a position to help the club then. It took years to get rid of Archer, and plenty more to get planning permission for the stadium, so there was nothing more anyone could have done (he could have thrown money into the club to get better players, but that's what you do when you're chairman, not while someone else is). You need to do some more (read some) research.

Crooks ? In charge at Albion ? But, but, [blink].....earlier Albion fans were suggesting Pompey were the only ones with crooks in charge ?

Well, yeah. At no point did we pay anyone we owed money to anything less than 100% of the debt.

They you're the only club in the country with a halo......it will stand you in good stead as you waft about he land on your pedestal

We're not. But we're clearly better than your lot, Leeds and serial offenders Palace. Football's finance is a terrible mess, but these three clubs have utterly taken the piss.
