Perhaps Dodds is the answer and that as he appears to be very injury prone at the moment the club keep him registered as a player as an emergency but move him towards coaching the defence. We are paying his wages either way.

Would Dodd want to stay, I wonder? Similar to Simon Morgan. Ties with another club and ending his career with a short term contract. That would be great if he did want to stick around, long term, as he is obviously well liked and a commanding fellow, having been a skipper in his time.

He is under contract for this season lets worry about next season nearer the time, when Butters is probably retired and McShane either gone back to United or sold to somebody like Reading.

I think thats probably the way to go, possibly the same thing with Butters next season (if he signs another 1 year deal)

Regardless of who your mate was BG, most of what he says is perfectly reasonable, though a bit harsh on Kuipers who was woefully exposed for all three goals.

I think the first problem is that MM has to decide on what is his preferred back four and stick with it.

But surely, different opposition, offer different types of threat and the defence should be changed accordingly. Obviously, it has been unavoidable thus far, with injuries to McShane et al.

I can't agree with that because I believe that you have your best players in at their best positions irrespective of the opposition.

Arsenals back four was Dixon Bould Adams Winterburn whether they played Torquay or Man Utd and by playing alongside of each other continually this brings familiarity and good practice

I agree, its the same with strikers, he needs to pick two and stick with them for a run of games tio give them a chance to gel and learn how each other plays.

Surely that is what happens in training aswell.

I am not saying we should chop and change every match, but different approaches are needed.

Nothing is set in stone but like all of us as he gets older age takers over and he will find it more difficult to hold his own in this Division.

His reading of the game is beyond question and perhaps he is the long term solution.

Hope you bought him a coaching manual for Christmas so that he can get his badges whilst with us.

It sounded like on the radio that Luton were better in midfield. Worth a go with the 4-4-2 as on paper our midfield looked quite good. But, alas, Luton seemed to be better.

The usual solution is to bung an extra midfielder on, but by half-time we were already chasing the game.

As I always say, you can only play on one wing at a time. No point in having two wingers unless the winger can fill in as a narrow function midfielder when the other winger is out wide.

If we do play one player only upfront, it cannot be Leon Knight as he has not got the stamina to cover the ground chasing after lost causes.

A hard working competent mifdfielder is what we need. I thought the pairing of Hammond and Carpenter would be good enough but apparently NOT ???

The squad rotation system is ok if you have superstars like Chelsea who can slot into a system without any difficulty. However, we are not Chelsea and surely playing a regular front two and back four is the way forward so as they can get used to one another and 'gel' as a team. I'm not particularly fussed (within reason) who this front two and back four are but I just wish we would stick with whoever is chosen for a run of games for them to build up an understanding of one another.

Also, when did this resting players thing start? Surely the players can play all the games? I bet Guy Butters plays every game this holiday period. If he can be fit enough to do it, why can't everyone else?
