Of course it has. His aim, and UKIPs, was to get a referendum on leaving the EU - job done.
Their next job was to win that referendum - job done.

Farage, and the whole of UKIP bar one, are not represented in Parliament. What exactly are they meant to do next ? They have no power, they will not be present at the negotiations, what EXACTLY could he or the party do now ?

It's no different to Galloway ( regardless of what you think of him ) having any influence over the Iraq war.

Ah, so what Farage has essentially done is preach for 4 years that UKIP is a viable political party and that they have more to say and do than just leaving the EU. Then when we leave the EU he realises that actually his party was always a two bit, low rent shambles and chips off, all his posturing that they could lead people into a shining new era was bravado and bluff and when the hard work of actually leading his party into power in the new Britain ,he professed his party would be a key part of , actually comes to fruition he simply says his job is done, even though he claimed they would be a huge part of it all. Work-shy fantasist who is not prepared to follow through what he promised and what he, in part, created. How anyone can respect the man is mind boggling.

An expert who backed remain, when so many said the next PM had to be Brexiter.

Did She really back remain or simply stayed non commital in the wings hoping to jump onto the the winning band wagon . Didnt see her out beating the drum for remain !

For what its worth she is the best of a bad lot ,but marginally

She played an absolute blinder, she did eventually say she was a remainer but very quietly, so not sure which way she was actually thinking.
The thing is that it is now a coronation not a contest, May is probably the best of a poor lot but is that the best the Tories can do?
When Ledsome? Pulled out out I thought Boris was going to appear from behind the curtain, but thankfully that didn't happen.
And to answer a previous post, yes Ledsome? did publish her tax accounts 22k on 80k earnings (approximate)
Which included having her moat cleaned out.

1922 committee to make statement soon. Either they bring Gove back from the dead (not what anyone wants), or annoint May (not what she wanted).

But at least we haven't got an unelected politcal machine making decisions for us anymore, eh kids.

They are all elected politicians. As you well know the PM has never been directly elected by the people, other than being voted in as an MP in his/her constituency.

Any denial of his rhetoric in the last few years is laughable. You love him and hang on his every word, I don't and see him for what he is and never the twain shall meet.

Subtext. Something Brexiteers would have benefited from acquainting themselves with before all this nonsense kicked off.

She played it very well in fairness. She wouldn't be PM if she hadn't.

Ironic that Brexiteers cited a main reason for leaving the EU being it is undemocratic, yet here in the UK Theresa May is likely to be crowned Tory leader with out the Tory rank and file getting to vote on it, then she's likely to become PM without a General Election to endorse her.

Meanwhile Corbyn is being forced into a leadership contest without any mandate for that contest from the ordinary Labour members that elected him.

Political hypocrisy of the highest order. The EU must be shaking their heads in disbelief, a complete uber-omnishambles.

This is absolutely true, however, it seems slightly off to me that the Tory party didn't even want to canvas their own party members on who the next leader was, just in case the wrong name came out top. Why bother with this election sham ratified by the 1922 committee if they had already decided it was May, anyway, the daily mail (Dacre) had made that decision days ago and once The Times (Murdoch) joined suit it was a foregone conclusion. Still, it's nice to see the wheels of democracy working for the people.

Brexit has really enhanced the democratic process in the country, we will have a Prime Minister for the next four years that less than two hundred people have voted for.

Labour have called for a General Election. It's an open goal for Theresa May; she'd be bloody mad to say no - then worries about her being unelected will disappear.

Also, Corbyn will have no chance to resign after getting humiliated - the only issue being how small a party there would be for the new leader to take over...

They're a self-serving cabal of elected MPs, but I take your point (if you'll agree you see mine)

It's been a fun day actually - Leadsom off, Loughton badlosering like a demented conspiracy theorist, Eagles suffering an almost media-free campaign launch, plus Diane Abbott playing the pantomime villain. The all round shambles continues.

Credit to May for keeping her beak clean; she's coming off really well simply by lack of association.

Is this the ordinary labour members who were encouraged to sign up ,pay their 3 quid and vote . How many of the so called labour party memberships who were members for more than 3 months actually voted for him . .

Amusing thought that 'taking back power' means handing it to one woman with no election.

It's never been any different. How did Gordon Brown become PM? It's the way our political system has always worked. The party that forms the government chooses their leader. If there's only 1 contender that person is elected unopposed.
You also seem t have forgotten that she got 60% of the PLP votes in the last run off.

Corbyn did the same and got a vote of no confidence. May does it and becomes PM.

It's a funny old world ... as another female PM said

Corbyn was ahead in all three sections (full members, trade union members and associates)
