I took my (then 8 y/o) son to Wembley for the Man City semi-final and we had a great day. Some of the most memorable moments were walking down Wembley Way together , walking around the outside of the stadium before the turnstiles opened game and just soaking in the atmosphere in our seats when we finally got inside.

Those who were out for a more boisterous beer-fueled experience were doing so - and obviously having a great time - but without effecting our experience negatively and were pretty accommodating of a bloke (me) out with his young son. Loads asking if my lad was having a good time and giving him flags and making sure he could see ok. Just so glad I wasn't there last night, either with him or on my own, come to that.

I'd love to take him to an England game at Wembley one day. Hopefully the knobheads only come out for the big occasions and won't be bothered by upcoming qualifiers or friendlies.

You'll be fine for the WC qualifiers, I'm taking my 7 yo Son, yesterday is nothing like it normally is.

I was saying this to my other half last night when that pillock ran across the pitch, what actually runs through people's heads when they do stuff like that? Or stuff like lobbing glass bottles in the air? Or "self policing" by knocking seven barrels of shit out of someone else?

What thought process happens that leads them to think "yeah, y'know what? I am going to deck that person".

"Let's go ****ing mental".

It's due to inadequate potty training.

I have a twitter account but I don't post. Danny Baker was a total disgrace last night. You can take the boy out of Millwall but you can't .....

He slagged off Southgate mercilessly. He was obvioulsy very pissed. If you google him you will get the jist

I was at the game and just to balance things out....

Yes there was drunk tomfoolery before the match but it was hardly that bad and mostly friendly banter.

Yes a few people stormed the ground. But I'm sure that would happen anywhere not just England. The security was not good enough.

I saw lots of great banter between England and Italy fans and very little booing for their anthem

Don't get caught up in the hype

This is one incident of fighting that's doing the rounds. A very remote incident.

The tomfoolery was before the game people climbing up lamposts etc.

During the game there was a whole section of Italian fans next to the english. I saw zero trouble.

Worthing
The 70s called and they want their attitude to football matches back.

A lot of extremely drunk (mainly) men, some perked up with the marching powder, turned London into a bomb site and tried to storm the stadium in the tail end of a global pandemic where restrictions were in place.

They were a disgrace but hopefully won't be such the Big I Am when they get their front doors kicked in at 0600 in the morning over the next few weeks.

Terry Butcher and Chris Sutton were not overly kind on 606 either, and I agreed with much of that they said, including that getting rid of him is not the answer.......

forgetting the penalties, the actual game was almost a re run of Croatia 2018 SF defeat. Gets the initial tactics right, stifles them, take the early lead, play well and dominate, but then go all Chris Hughton and regress..... in both games the oppositon coach has made key crucial system changes and substitutions that have totally changed the game and in both Southgate has stood by and watched for too long, its conservative.

I think he's perfect in so many facets of what makes a good manger, articulate, empathetic, builds a great team spirit, has got most games tactically right rom the kick off and we've progressed, but could it/we do better with this dirth of attacking talent, yes. Did Mancini out think Southgate during the ebb and flow of the game, yes 100%. Southgate shares many in game "safety first" similarities with Hughton........ I actually dont think this Italian team are that spectucular, they just play swashbuckling attacking football, they will concede more but they score more. I hope we play to our strenghts and not our weaknesses going forward and GS can be a bit more pro active in game and go for the jugular. Mancini is a winner.

Brighton factually.....
A member of our euro group chat, has declared he thinks we should be banned from any further tournaments.....

Really, but then again he is a Brighton born Manchester United fan......

Overall we have behaved very well, i think Wembley, the police got it so wrong, there were signs things would spill over, folks travelling from four corners to converge on Wembley was never going to end well. All the previous games, seemed well natured and good banter, even with the Germans, Danish, Scotland no major incidents...

Ban my arse....

I think for some people this is just "STEWARDING ASSISTANCE"

I really don't have any issue with people getting punched for breaking into stadiums. Lets no forget what some people wanted done to Palace fans that stormed the Amex?

Its always 1% who ruin it for the 99% of geuine law abiding fans, who like a drink, sing and banter without all the other crap. The police/stewarding fiasco really could kill any potential 2030 bid.

Perhaps old Wembley, having near nothing around it, thereby you really only made the journey there to get in was a godsend. Box parks, retail parks, bars and restaurants all springing up around the place making it a destination in and of itself appears to have its drawbacks.

It certainly makes it harder to have another, 'outer' cordon which was so badly needed yesterday.

Letting thousands of ticketless fans, with more beer than they could carry, let alone drink, onto Wembley Way was a huge mistake.

Of course the idiots themselves are are responsible but who will take responsibility for the complete shambles of organisation?

I always sense that shops and the like around the stadium are a ripoff.

Step forward Met Commissioner, Cressida Dick.

Oh, it seems she's fully occupied with all the other shambles that have occurred on her watch. Trebles and enhanced pension contributions all round.

Morons. I look back on some of the footage of fans a feel kinda pleased England lost. Anyone that gets in a state to launch bottles and throw fists over football BEFORE THE GAME should be sterilised on site.
