Yeah true but it not just that. Its everythingLike I say, google maps is perfectly happy with the existing naming structure. Who even uses google earth for anything, other than maybe an oddball with a bee in their bonnet hunting around for something - anything! - that supports their crackpot idea

Google Earth does know about Brighton and Hove. Both Maps and Earth will pull most of its data from the same place so it makes no sense for one to know about it and not the other.
Here is proof too just to put more holes in the OPs claims. His version of Google Earth must be stuck in 1993 with the Brighton vs Swansea game he went to.

Yes, I did join to promote the petition. I have a deep patriotism for my city and club. The reason I want this is because I want the city to be up there with the best in England same as our team . Our city often gets undervalued because Brighton and Hove are frequently seen as separate entities, which undermines us globally.
If this change happens, Brighton will be the biggest city in the South, fact. and to be honest, I’d love to see a sign saying, “Welcome to the City of Brighton.” That’s power. There definitely wouldn’t be any disadvantages, and we wouldn’t lose anything.
Put it this way—if a new hotel or residential development is available in Brighton, it’s naturally more appealing, isn’t it? As for costs, there’s no need to rush things, like changing all the street signs immediately. Hove would still be part of Brighton, but I’d love to see the first street sign with “The City of Brighton” on it.

It's meant to. How does this undermine us globally ? Do you have evidence of Japanese investor saying 'I'm confused by this clearly boundary defined city ?

No, it won't, because Brighton & Hove is already the biggest city outside London in the South of England (depending on how you regard Milton Keynes). By changing the name you cannot change the boundaries

Anyway, 53 people have signed. I suspect mostly divorcees whose ex-wives or husbands have shacked up in New Church Road with Toby the accountant. A few thousand folk have viewed this thread alone. Maybe time to retire. Did someone say you lived in Saltdean ? I hope that's not east of Longridge Avenue, because you may find that you're not even a resident.

You said Google Earth doesn’t know about Brighton and Hove when it clearly does.
Searching for things is generally how these apps work. We all know where the city is so what does it matter if there isn’t some text label for it? How would changing the cities name to just Brighton fix this issue?
Are we missing out on millions of tourists because this text label doesn’t exist so people simply won’t visit because they can’t possibly find Brighton and Hove in any other way.
I’ve checked Google Maps and that doesn’t show a label for Brighton either until you zoom in pretty close. I think you’ve stumbled on some conspiracy led by Google to keep the city of Brighton and Hove down. Damn you Larry Page. I bet he’s doing this cause he’s a Palace fan, or visited once and got a verruca at Prince Regent.

What I mean is we get overlooked. The city often doesn't get seen as Brighton and Hove, which then doesn't show our true size, pop ect and de-values us. Boundaries wont change. Like I said Hove will still be there but it'll officially come under Brighton. Hove status wont change its just uniting under a single city name.Okay.
