Brilliant first half by Genoa and Östigård, Milan looking toothless without Zlatan and Genoa has a real chance of winning this.

Östigård best on the pitch together with the Genoa RWB Portanova who looks a very exciting player.

In the Norwegian squad for their upcoming two friendlies.

Excellent that he has been rewarded for improved form.

The chance are increasing that we'll be going into the new season with the 5 centre back options of ...

Webby
Dunk
Veltman
Van Hecke
Ostigard

With Leo being a lefty (do tell me if I've remembered that wrong), he'll be in a prime position to nail down a LCB spot in a back 3.

If he stays, that is. Isn't his contract only for this season?

Leo is right footed afaik.

If the feelings he expressed this summer - that he has no intention of sticking around unless he is a starter - remains the same, then I think he'll be sold because you can guarantee that to any player.

Was that before we sold White and obviously before we sold Burn so if he is good enough he will get the game time, especially as Webster is starting to look a bit injury prone and Dunk is going backwards at the moment

How quickly you give up on players.

I think that Clarke will consider himself hard done by if he doesn't come back to the First Team squad next season. I would imagine young Hove Gym enthusiast Hayden Roberts will find himself out on loan next season.

Last year we took up the option to extend is contract, I don't think we can do that again. I think we'd have to offer him guaranteed first team football, which I think is unlikely, but in the Prem that may persuade him to stay. Personally I think it's more likely he'll be off in the summer.

Agreed. We have our six CBs for next season I suspect -- Dunk, Web, Velt, Clarke, Ostiguy and van Hecke -- allowing Duffy to leave in the summer.
I think we need to spend really good money on two or three players: a RB (big shame we missed out on Livramento), a winger and a forward.
We'll definitely lose Biss, and suspect Tross will either go this summer or the following one. Maupay might decide he wants to head off to. Those two and Mac have their contracts up in 2023, so they and/or the club have big decisions to make.
I think we ought to be able to cope with losing Biss, as in midfield we'll have Lallana, Gross (although we should be open to offers), Moder, Mac Allister, Alzate, Caicedo, Koslowski and Mwepu.

I completely agree with you - I think we need to have a good summer window this time around because there's an awful lot of squad churn going to happen in the next two years. It was a pretty dire time to lose Ashworth, but hopefully the work will still get done and we'll see a few extended contracts for Mac and hopefully Trossard at least.

I'd be very surprised to see Clarke playing for Brighton.. ever. More likely to buy another (left-footed) CB.

Yes. Surely we are still looking at Jahanbakhsh’s teammate Senesi? Might be the push Mac needs to sign his contract too.

Sadly you have! Clarke and Roberts are the 'lefties' - and I think Roberts is due a loan next season, and I get the feeling that Clarke unluckily might not ever play for the Albion. Van Hecke and Ostigard (if indeed he isn't off as his contract runs out. Stoke have seriously missed a chance!) will be interesting. Can't see us buying a CB though, in spite of some people wanting us to buy, buy, buy.

Can’t see who would commit to Trossard he has a few good games a season and for all his fancy footwork not a lot comes from it. He needs to find some consistency.

Agree with this, one good game followed by 5 where he just disappears. Not sure many would want him

You reckon someone who is regularly involved in the squads for his country which has been ranked at FIFA as #1 for a few years now will struggle to find a club?

Get the feeling Clarke will be off on a permanent deal this summer along with Ostigard. We will likely also get a fairly sizeable offer for Van Hecke but I would anticipate us keeping him and looking to hold onto and develop Roberts. Like most I imagine Duffy will be moved on with a cheap but reasonable quality replacement coming in (think Holland or Belgium)

Centre backs from:
-Dunk
-Veltman
-Webster
-Van Hecke
-Roberts
-New signing
