Wasn't it you that said that football is simple, put the right players in the right positions etc, and that Poyet made it over complicated?

If that's the case, and football is simple, then surely someone who has played and coached football at Barcelona can coach football anywhere?

What difference does experience of a league actually make? For managers, setting tactics...

Football is simple, but a working knowledge of what your up against week in week out I would say is a huge benefit....Plus the guy probably doesn't speak a word of English(on the other hand he could be fluent)...total non starter imo.

Re: Óscar García Junyent

If his family has put pressure on him to return to Spain, it seems unlikely he will come to manage us

Football is far from simple. We like to think it is but it isn't. He sounds perfect. Spain is but 2 hours away and he speaks fluent English. I think you're letting your English-only want get the better of you.

If his family has put pressure on him to return to Spain, it seems unlikely he will come to manage us

This sort of thing may be the reason his family want out - From Nov 2012:

Robert Earnshaw flees training while on loan in Israel at Maccabi Tel Aviv after missile attack

Cardiff striker Robert Earnshaw has spoken of the dramatic moment he was forced to flee a training session because of an attack on Tel Aviv.

The 31-year-old Wales international is on loan at Maccabi Tel Aviv and found himself caught up in the violence which has flared up in the region over recent days.

He told The Sun a siren went off as he and his team-mates were training when a missile was aimed at the city.

He said: "The foreign boys like me did not have a clue what was going on until the local Israeli boys were shouting and screaming at us, 'Come in, come in, come in. You have to take shelter'.

"Apparently you've got about 60 seconds to take cover. When they tell you that - and you hear the word 'missiles' mentioned - you move pretty fast!

"I was just thinking, 'My God, what's happening here?' Then literally 30-60 seconds after the sirens sounded there was a massive bang and an explosion."

Of the attack, which Earnshaw said was the first on Tel Aviv in 21 years, he added: "That was my first experience of the conflict and it's not something a boy from South Wales can easily get used to.

"I used to think that Cardiff on a night out could get a bit lively. I can assure you it's a lot livelier out here in Tel Aviv right now!"

The latest bout of violence between Israel and Palestinian militants has claimed dozens of lives since flaring up a week ago.

These were my thoughts also on why they wanted out.

Seems fluent to me, and our sports analysis department can provide him with all the information he needs. I don't mean to be rude, but you do come across as quite xenophobic sometimes...

That's good enough for me to want him as our next manager. Thanks kev.

Nope, not a word of English.

It was even posted in this thread, so you wouldn't have had to look that hard. Of course, it conflicts with your "only-English-need-apply" agenda so I'm sure you very conveniently ignored it.

My main concern was the language barrier with non-Spanish speakers, but his English is pretty good

GET HIM IN ASAP

Didn't sound like he had a plan B when the oppo got 11 men behind the ball though - sound familiar?!!

My primary worry is not the departure of Gus (brilliant manager, H U G E mouth), but the POTENTIAL departure of our Spanish-speaking superstar players. This suggests we should try to get in another Spanish-speaking manager, so... why not?

It's funny, I can't help but feel "anyone-BUT-English" in terms of next manager. We need someone who will carry on Poyet's style and tweak it.
