Just been watching Sky News at 4pm where the Portsmouth situation was discussed and it was mentioned that only three clubs returned a profit (last season ?) Those clubs were not named (apart from Swindon & West Brom being well run) Any idea,s of the three ?

it could have been brighton but gus has bought in a laundry firm to clean the kit now rather than making the players take it home so that put the mockers on that.

PL or including FL?

Arsenal definatly. Spurs probably after that i'd struggle on PL. in FL Reading seems run on a tight budget, but after that i'd be guessing.

thing is when was it ever different? theres the old saying, the best way to make a small fortune is to have a large fortune and buy a football club. football clubs arent expected to make a profit. can you imagine how annoyed fans would be if the club just missed out on promotion/playoffs/cup run and you found out they had half a million sat in the bank rather than getting that striker that was talked about in the transfer window?

AFC Bournemouth served with yet another winding up petition from HMRC today.

How many times have they been in trouble? And more to the point, how on earth do they keep dodging the bullet?

Stoke, about £500k after transfers according to BBC

Would seem that way:

Figures announced for the year 2008-09, the club's first season in the Premier League, show the Potters made a net profit of £503,000 at the end of the last trading year, after transfers, and had an increased turnover of £54m – up from £11m in their last season in the Championship

I am sure that I read somewhere that Spurs are 1 of only 2 clubs in the Prem that make a profit. Arsenal must be still paying for the Emirates so probably are not showing a profit.
