..you're having a f***ing laugh

1. Zamora was on a long term contract
2. Zamora is an established U21 International
3. Zamora will be a future England International
4. Zamora was our club.
5. Zamora was the future of Brighton and Hove Albion

So we give Bristol Rovers half a million and Dick gives all the remaining £1 million to Steve. Can anyone else see that happening!!!

If one penny goes into the Falmer fund, I for one will be seriously f***ed off.

I am not a happy bunny at the moment. I knew he was going and good luck to him, but £1.5 million is a disgrace.

And to all those who say its all we could get, then why did we sell him?????

In light of the 3m offer from Everton this is almost as big a cock up than the dean saunders sale, however what could we expect when damian duff is up for grabs at 4m.

Damien Duff admitted the £17m transfer fee which Chelsea have agreed to pay Blackburn for him is "ridiculous".

hardly £4 million!!!

But what will Duff's wages cost? Bobby is only on shit money and in no position to demand "old style" prem wages!

We're all sorry to see him go Gaffer, and we all rate him highly. I'm sure he is a Premiership player, tho that is yet to be proven. However he is not even a regular first choice for the Under-21s, a full England cap is a distant dream at the moment, he isn't our club, and if we ever were a one-man team we shouldn't be and need to recruit, and our long-term future depends far more on Falmer than Bobby.

I don't think £1.5m is a disgrace at the moment. We probably could have sold him for more 18 months ago but chose not to, missed the boat on £2.5m but got a second promotion out of it. There will be differing views about the wisdom of that, but it was great to have a season in Div One and hopefully the players left will be hungry for more. With Brighton, obviously.

It's all specualation, we'll find out soon enough but if we have accepted 1.5 million for him DK should be shot.

hopefully there will be appearance fee's/euro appearance fee's/future England cap fee's etc etc - that way we could get a steady income in the future...if Knight though that far along ???

I got a text saying Dick Knight has agreed a fee of £2.25m.

The £1.5m that is being quoted is what we get out of the deal.

I don't think we realistically could have got any better.

I assume we will get a sell on clause, etc.

If not, then the negotiating skills of our owners need looking at

Then why did we sell him if he is on a long term contract?

DTG,

I don't know exactly why. 2 potential reasons -

1) We desperately need the cash
2) BZ would have been extremely unhappy playing for BHAFC next season. After the interviews at the end of last season, it was clear we were going to have to sell him and it was just a matter of how much we could get. Chelsea aside, £2.25m is quite a bit with the transfer market in its current state.

I'm absolutely gutted about him going (although I guess we all knew it was going to happen) and I think DK was in a no-win situation. He wanted to go, we had to let him go and get the most we could for him - at the moment, that's £2.25m. I'm not sure if there are any extras with this though.

Taking into account how the market has dropped, £1.5 million would appear to be a fair price.

He is not an established under 21 international, he's been no more than a bit part player for the squad, and has never been the 1st choice front man.

Chances are he will never become a regular full international.

He is not Brighton and Hove Albion, no one player is as big as the club.

Personally, I'm disappointed about Zamora leaving. If he'd been here and stayed fit, I felt he'd give us enough to bounce straight back, and obviously it leaves a gaping hole in our squad, but shit happens, and I have immense faith in Coppells ability to fill some of the void.

Finally, I personally find some of the comments aimed at Knight and his handling of the transfer quite staggering. You're all entitled to your opinion but it's becoming very tiresome at times. He probably does wish that he'd taken a substantially larger offer for Zamora 12-18 months ago, there's very little doubt he regrets appointing Hinshelwood as manager this time last year, and I'm sure, given the choice, Coppell would have been his man, and in a perfect world we'd be sitting here contemplating another season in Division One. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
