Never mind, here goes then:

1) There's a game of association football taking place at the Withdean Stadium in Brighton tomorrow evening and, since this message board is used primarily by supporters of one of the participant teams for discussing football related matters, I wondered if you might be attending?
2) However, since I haven't seen any indication that you're a supporter of either team so may not be familiar with the stadium location, transport, parking arrangements etc, I attached a link which gives directions to the Withdean.
3) I hope to post some information on the BHBCC's post-game bus arrangements sometime later today but please don't start getting 'picky' if I get the service number or bus colour wrong as I don't live in Brighton now.
4) I don't live in Thornton Heath, Gillingham or Peacehaven either.
5) I have been to Spain (incl Madrid), Pakistan and Cuba.
6) I studied at two universities but have only one degree; my wife studied at two and has two degrees.
7) My father used to call me subversive.
8) I was once arrested by the Met Police but released without charge.

There is other information on all the above points which I have chosen not to mention.

Is that someone knocking at the door?

Silly argument really...but I am glad that you have at least followed this thread !

I have followed this forum for about 2 years, and you comment about being primarily about football is intriguing, I have a some bad news, you need to open your eyes

As this thread is about the current news it seems reasonable to discuss this.

I think as we speak there are 5-7 threads out of 50 about football so you gonna be disappointed.

As for your BHA superiority complex, it is irrelevant as this thread aint about football.

For the record I grew up and attended through the Goldstone Years and more recently the past 2 years my wife and 8yrs old Son have missed only about 3 home games, so sorry I am not willing to be so easily dismissed by your own rather large ego.

The government clearly can't publish the reasoning for keeping these guys locked up for so long but they must have had good enough reason to. How often are people locked up for crimes they are later proven not to have committed? Not very often.

..and why can't the government publish it ?

Sometimes I suspect that the police/security services have phone tapping evidence that can't be used in court.

All the liberty organisations are asking for this to be able to be used in courts, but the security services won't allow it.

I understand that we're the only western democracy that doesn't allow it to be used in evidence.

Not for wishy washy liberal reasons you understand.

So effectively you have an unjust stale mate.

Not 100% sure what you mean.....

Are you saying that not many innocent men are jailed or that many innocent men are jailed.

It follows that guilty men are unable to disprove their guilt.

Thats the likely reason !

Its a great leap of faith to say because there has been miscarriages of justice that questions the guilt our prison population , surely !!!!!

You lost me on that one ...sorry

There isn't any parallel with people committed of a crime then acquitted, because no trial has taken place yet.

You'll be devastated to know that I agree with much of what you have said, but I am surprised that the 'liberaltarians' wish for phone tapping to be admissable.

If you are surprised by that, then I think you may be missing the point to be honest.

How often are people locked up for crimes they are later proven not to have committed? Not very often.

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit.

No just an honest point, I thought that it was the liberals that didnt want phone tapping as admissable evidence.

admissable is that a word ?

But my point is, if we know this to be fact, they have disproved their initial guilt .... which is brilliant.

But it follows that rightly convicted criminals cant disprove their guilt because they are guilty !!

Too far from the sun
Read what I said, I don't like people blowing OUR country to bits. Couldn't give a flying f*** what the Americans get up to. Yes that may be selfish but quite frankly I don't care.

The world is a shitty place, bad things happen, get over it. All we can do is try and protect our own. This guy was wanted by the Yanks and now is wanted by the Spanish that suggests to me he is not quite the honest Joe he's making himself out to be.

The fact that there are people like him living in Brighton, bomb factories being discovered in Crawley, training camps being run at Mark Cross and most importantly that I spend the working week in the center of London worries me. I don't want this on my doorstep!

So no, I have no sympathy for the bloke, I don't care how long he was locked up for without charge. As I said in my first post there is no smoke without fire, despite what you liberals think they don't just pick any old mushes from off the street and lock them up.

The government clearly can't publish the reasoning for keeping these guys locked up for so long but they must have had good enough reason to. How often are people locked up for crimes they are later proven not to have committed? Not very often.
Bloody hell, that's the first time in my life that ANYONE has called me a liberal. Can I frame your response?

As far as your 'no smoke without fire' comment is concern, you could equally say 'throw enough mud and it will stick'. Your surname isn't McCarthy by any chance? Someone with that surname and your views was quite prominent in the USA in the 50s.
