Oh, I watched that. Still not heard of the fella though.

To be fair, he barely touched the ball. Not knowing of Jason Steele is a bit poor, considering how good he was at the Amex last season for Boro. Just goes to show how differently people watch football.

Joe Allen was being linked with moves to top six clubs last season, he was that good.

Looking through the squad i think we stand a good chance for reaching the latter stages of the competition and i for one am looking forward to it. Just because we haven't put a side in for a long time does not mean that it's a tournament that we should not take seriously. As many of you probably know a certain Messi fella took Barca to court to play in the Olympics such is its draw to young south Americans. Why should we treat it with such a lack of respect?

the lack of football knowledge on this board is incredible........especially as some of those played against the albion last season

This, out of the list the only one I've never really noticed is Taylor of Swansea, the rest are all familiar names to me! Some decent selections there (Sinclair for me the standout player on that list) but as others have said, against likes of Brazil/Spain it won't be a squad that'll win a gold or silver medal!

I love the logic of "Na, that's a shit squad isn't it. I haven't HEARD of half of them!"

Followed by the next comments of "Well, i dont really watch football outside the Albion"

By that logic, Neymar is probably shit too....

How do other nations treat football at the Olympics? I'm not slating the team selected, I just see team GB as a bit of fun for the guys that didn't get to play in the Euro's...

The Japanese will be sending their three best senior players along with the best possible squad of under 23s and have been training together as a team for weeks.

They will also big themselves up like they just won the World Cup if they win it.

Spain have announced their provisional squad and it would probably give England seniors a very good game. Wouldn't be surprised if they beat it to be honest.

Goalkeepers: De Gea (Manchester United), Robles (Atletico Madrid), Marino (Villarreal)

Defenders: Azpilicueta (Marseille), Alba (Valencia), Martinez (Athletic Bilbao), Dominguez (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Montoya (Barcelona), Botia (Sporting Gijon), San Jose (Athletic Bilbao), Martinez (Real Sociedad)

Midfielders: Thiago (Barcelona), Herrera (Athletic Bilbao), Koke (Atletico Madrid), Romeu (Chelsea), Isco (Malaga), Mata (Chelsea), Muniain (Athletic Bilbao)

Forwards: Adrian (Atletico Madrid), Vasquez (Espanyol), Tello (Barcelona), Rodrigo (Benfica)

Tello, Muniain, Thiago and Alba will be the ones to watch. This Spanish Olympic squad would slaughter us.

That squad is going to take some serious stopping.

If Muniain was English he would be our best player already and he didn't even get in the Spanish 23 for the Euros. He is going be seriously, seriously good.

I haven't once seen Tello play well. I wonder if Alba will be left out having played every minute of the Euros?

Struggling to feel any interest to be honest - maybe it'll come once they kick off. Just not used to us playing footie at the Olympics and after the way the Scots and the Welsh have been so anti it doesn't feel representative.

Then there's Pearce.........international manager? No wonder we are so far behind the rest!
