No disrespect to Watkins but I'd want someone proven at this level for £70,000 a week.

Clearly with Lallana and the new Dunk deal we have broken our wages ceiling now, so if the said striker is the right fit for Potter's squad then TB is not afraid to pay the weekly wage.

This is all a far cry from when Gulls Eye were sent a club bank statement in early 1997, the entire wage bill for the club was around £20,000 a week.

To be fair, I earned a grand a week working in ROmania in 99 and I thought I was minted :lolol:

That was about £15,000 a week too much for the team we had in early 1997.

We got the 'much better player' according to my Brentford mate in Maupay, he can't believe Villa paid that for him, he is pleased though and laughing his head off. Looks like the Villa weird buying policy in play again, buy loads for large amounts.

He's a talent for sure, but being part of that 3 man attack sure help him a lot. Benrahma was the play maker, supplied a lot of goalscoring opportunities, so maybe Grealish can be that supply for him. Still an awful lot of money though.

I am hoping Grealish is poached

I thought £18 million was pushing it for an unproven striker, £28-£35 million is brilliant for Brentford. I only saw him a few times and thought he was good but nothing special.

Yes it is definitely paying over the odds, but we now need to find someone else

Do you think we should pay over the odds?

Do you have anyone in mind?

Palace spent half that on Ebeneezer Eze, and although he only got 20 in 104 for QPR, I think they've got the better deal. QPR have been rubbish, so posting 1 in 5 there is none too shabby IMO, looks like a good signing and having seen him a few times I would've been quite happy to see him here at that price.

£33m for a second division striker is borderline moronic.

No I do not think we should go any higher than Tony thinks is his maximum.

Honestly, we are fast running out of options that I am aware of. But I am sure our ‘magnificent’ recruitment team will bring us a winner.

Do you think Tony would persist with the current recruitment team if he wasn’t happy with what they were doing ? Guessing you’ve got your list of challenging questions ready for him for the fan’s forum.

What’s the point? They will be asked nothing significant, and will give politician-like responses as required.

Again, how do you know what options they have in the pipeline?
And is that the same magnificent recruitment team you’ve slagged off like a rash all over every NSC thread the last 2 weeks?

Have a little faith and by all means moan next Monday or on Oct 5th if the window is deemed a failure but please just give it a rest for now!
