I got a pair of winklepickers from Ziggys for the new school year in the late 70's Moved to MId-Wales a few months later, and, due to said shoes, acquired the nickname Chisel. As an aside, Roy Chuter lived in the first-floor flat in the mid-90's (the war years).

Possibly The Lambrettas?
Oooh, good call, possibly. Led of course by the late, great Jez Bird, a criminally-underrated songwriter.

Anyway, I love the name of the newsagents: 'Smokemart' :lolol: Different times!

EDIT: Piranhas might be a good call as well.

I would say not The Lamberettas because of the clothing, I imagine they would be wearing smarter mod gear.

Agree about Jez, he was good singer too and very nice chap.

I moved to Brighton in the mid 80s for a job above Dunn&Co and never realised there was a flat next door. I also recently discovered I still own a 7" Tom Hark single in a picture sleeve, bought at a time I never imagined I'd end up living most of my life here!

Do you remember the front page of the Argus classifieds, adverts for 20 plus cinemas? Not just Brighton eg The Ritz in Seaford.
I used to see a few films in my youth there. The last one I saw was probably Aliens with less than 10 people in the cinema, in the era when you had a support film and then the main event. I remember it had a wierd sort of wavy plaster over the walls, possibly for better sound reasons.

We didn’t come from Seaford, but went there once to see one of the rubbish disaster movies, Airport 75.

This.
I would be interested to know the year the photo was taken.
Looks circa 1960. This article has another picture, taken looking north in 1954. One of the comments mentions that it was still there in 1967.
