Did anyone else see Sterling deliberately tripped over 5-10 seconds before the 'revenge' tackle that got him sent off?

Yellow for Sterling, red for Valencia. Poor refereeing.

Can't really argue with that decision. What was Sterling doing there? Shocking near-maiming in a fking WARM UP.

Not a red though was it? Very swift but not studs up, silly challenge but a yellow 24/7.

he nearly snapped his standing leg with his knee.. half way up his calf... flying in, off his feet, leading with his studs... nasty... and STUPID.... and straight RED in my book.

Good work out this game. Ecuador very dangerous on the break, we're comfortably the better passers which is fortunate because they've exposed us a couple of times.

Not really, he came across rather than down. A challenge like sterlings is very very unlikely to cause a break.

From one angle, it looks full blooded but fair. From another though, he ploughs straight into inside of the bloke's knee and could have caused serious injury. I'd probably have given yellow but understand why he gave a red in truth.

Fair enough. Silly tackle in a WC warm up friendly agreed. Shows he's up for it at least I suppose...

Doesn't matter what they earn though? It seems people expect them to be super-human because they earn millions.

Any arguments about earnings are nonsense. They're not going to turn down the money are they?!

Yay Lallana.

Exactly this ^ Two matches away from the World Cup Finals!

I'd be pretty pissed off if I was Valencia too to be honest.
