I'd be grateful for some local parkrun advice.

I'll be staying at Kingston, near Lewes, soon and plan to do a parkrun. Priorities (in order) are: not too congested (given current covid situation); ease of parking; surface (the firmer the better); distance from Kingston.

Peacehaven and Seaford seem to be the closest, then East Brighton. But I'd be happy to head further into Brighton or Hove if they offer better options.

Seaford is all road, completely flat and has plenty of parking. That would be your best bet. Peacehaven is part road, part off-road. East Brighton is all grass.

PS Peacehaven is the tougher of the two. Not sure about the parking, but I do recall East Brighton being quite a challenge (and that another quite tough little course.) A bit further afield, Lancing is nearly all concrete, flat as a pancake (+ coastal views!) and with great parking. But of course it's a bit of a distance for you. I'd go for Seaford.

Like a kid with a new toy, I couldn't resist sneaking out for a 10k time trial last night to test the new trainers again. My current 10k time is like one of those vulnerable world records in the Olympics*.
So my current time is around a shameful 49.30. Managed a 46.30 and I'd have to attribute a chunk of that to the new trainers.

*this is the only time I've ever been able to include my current time and a world record in the same sentence.

Great to see some fast times being posted. I'm going the other way and – I think – still suffering from the few covid-y symptoms (or post covid) I've got. Trotted out seven miles this morning, but the early morning starts have gone out of the window and the stamina isn't what it used to be.

On the plus side, a couple of mates mentioned they're going to sign up for the 2022 Manchester Marathon, so I've pretty much committed to that with them. Anyone done it?

Good initial return on investment.
But I'm expecting better from you.

The 'Saucony Endorphin Speed' trainers have arrived...................

Just dug back from your recent posts to see what your new kicks are.

If I wasn't sworn to only buy Nike, I'd have snapped up some Speeds over the last year or so, as they've been universally very well reviewed and the broad consensus is you get nearly all of the Endorphin Pro performance for a fair bit less money. They're really nice looking shoes too, which helps! Saucony have had a really good year or two.

In sort-of related news, Keller Sports are shipping to the UK again. They are very keenly priced on a lot of shoes and kit. I only look at Nike but I suspect they have good prices on other brands.

I pay £7.99 for their premium membership, as it gives 10% off most things, so you get it back after a pair of shoes. They often do 10/15% extra off deals, generally at weekends.

A few examples of some Nike shoes (most/all current models) at decent prices (Premium member prices quoted)...

Vaporfly - £149 - https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-zoomx-vaporfly-next-running-shoes-RSCNI0B9000.html

Alphafly - £143 - https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-air-zoom-alphafly-next-running-shoe-RSCNI0IN000.html

Tempo Next% - £98 - https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-air-zoom-tempo-next-running-shoe-RSCNI0II000.html

Invincible - £82 - https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-zoomx-invincible-run-flyknit-running-shoe-RSCNI0IQ000.html

Pegasus 38 - £58 - https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-air-zoom-pegasus-38-running-shoe-RSCNI0JV000.html

Wilhorse 7 - £58 - https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-wildhorse-7-running-shoe-RSCNI0KG000.html

React Miler 2 - £53 - https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-react-miler-2-running-shoe-RSCNI0JM000.html

Their prices on shirts, shorts, jackets and caps etc are also decent.

Only with the use of a bicycle!

How's the build-up/prep going for the showdown tri on Sunday?

Did 40 miles bike Monday with tired legs from weekend running. Bit too near race day but should recover. On Day 2 now of arse sitting and will continue to take it very easy till Sunday.
The 10k is 4 x 2.5K laps so we will be in constant sight of each other with me doing the chasing.
Dream scenario is catching him at the end of lap 3 and running alongside for a lap giving abuse. Not likely to happen though.

Greetings fellow runners, I haven't really been on this thread for a few months. I've just been ticking over with 3 runs a week. My Tuesday night running group has finally started up again though, so I've got my running mojo back again. I had almost forgotten how much easier running feels in a group. Now I'm itching to sign up for a race in the autumn.

Does anyone know of races in Sussex in November? I'll be over for most of the month and it would be good to do something.

Good to hear…….

Not a lot seemingly about at the moment, worth keeping an eye on http://www.sussexraces.co.uk/sussexraceseventplanner.html as most get put on here.

Would be good to meet up for a plod when you’re over 👍

Yeah, I did have a look at that website and everything seems to be before or after November!

I'll definitely be up for some runs though. Is Parkrun back on?

Oh yes, some parkruns had their first event back last weekend. :)

That's good to know. I still haven't actually been to a Parkrun. They started a few of them around Toronto a couple of years ago but I'm pretty sure they're not back on yet.

The Brighton 10k is typically in November. A seafront out and back starting near the Steve Ovett statue.

I know of at least one in New Jersey that has been running recently... bit of a trek for you though!! :D

It's great to have Parkruns back - I've really missed them!

Now done the two back at my spiritual parkrun home of Hove Park, the first one I bagged myself a massive PW of 39.59 (still glad I came in under 40 minutes) was for a good cause though, went round with my other half who in the process completed her first ever parkrun nonstop, huge step forward for her :)

Last week, it was time to hit the ground running (literally) and see what all my lockdown miles had done to me, bagged myself a new PB knocking 30 seconds off my previous best. That in hand with a decent PB at the recent Phoenix has made it a happy return to running events for me. Obviously, I was still well behind a flying Ninja in both of these PB attempts.

Calling The Gaffer knocky1 is it too soon to be asking for table updates?

10K 43.03
5K 20.38 - AG 67.12%

Back to marathon training too, the step up to 20 is just around the corner

Brighton Hove Athletic Club event. Nothing up yet for 2021.
Crowborough has a 5k and 10k in a field but not definite yet https://crowboroughrunners.org.uk/crowborough-10k/

Be good to have a race and a 5k Parkrun NSC meet up with Badger in November.

Great running. You should escape Hove Park one time and get a PB on the flat.

I’ll do the table tomorrow.
