Individually, no. But collectively - that's a drugs bust. I move to have your times struck from the table for a period of no less than 10 years to allow the POLLUTANTS to leave your system. :clap2:

I'm in for that one for sure. First of presumably 3 showdowns with the Big Fella (Worthing and Arena 80 being the other two) over the dreaded 10k distance this year.

It will just be 2 out of 3 this year. I miss the Arena 80 due to holiday. I also miss the re-arranged Worthing half which is now scheduled for October 25th.

Hi all,

I just wanted to drop a quick post and say many thanks for those that came out and braved the weather yesterday. As you can well imagine the continued wind was causing us some real logistical issues in the build up to the race both in terms in construction and that we would be down on both runners and volunteers on the days, thankfully this was not the case and everyone was amazing!

I hope Bozza doesn't mind but for those who are looking to develop a challenge with 2021 in mind we have 12 London Marathon places at the Beacon available, it will be a £1750 sponsorship so fairly achievable for a charity place and you will receive a free Brighton Half Marathon space on Team Beacon, if you want to run for us then please drop us an email on fundraising@sussexbeacon.org.uk

For those doing the Brighton Half Marathon next year it is worth looking at joining us at Team Beacon if for no other reason that you get a nice warm marquee with food and drink and private toilets! :)

But as I say I really wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out and ran it, good work!

Bloody Worthing!
That might be where Anchorman disappeared. I'll look into it. Thanks. (it wasn't deliberate)

BTW thanks for your invitation to me to join Strava. I won't be taking up the invite and there are two possible reasons

1. I don't want to give a rival insight into my training regime or

2. I'm such a technophobe, I wouldn't know how to get started.

(Hint: choose 2.)

I've just about got the hang of the basic functionality of my new Garmin, so on this rate of learning I'll get onto Strava just in time to peg out. One thing I've noticed post-Garmin is the gap between how fast I thought I was running in training and how fast I actually do run! This also (of course) applies to the previously inflated length of some of my standard training routes - 6 miles has become 5.8 miles. It's a bit demoralising: ignorance is bliss.

Not a good day! Went for a run and gashed my thigh on a protruding metal rod sticking out of a fence. 6 hrs in A&E, 4 big stitches and a lot of pain! Skiing holiday not looking promising but hopefully can still make it back for the marathon.

What a total bummer. Having had similar a few years back I'd just advise that you don't come back too soon. (If the scarring isn't over a joint, it's not quite so bad.) All the best for a speedy recovery.

Oww! I shall never grumble about the occasional bramble scratch ever again!

No such problems on my interval session yesterday though... just issues keeping myself going!

(I still hate intervals)

Did 10 miles yesterday - the first time I've hit double figures since my 16 miles on NYE (which also made it 38 miles in about 40 hours) which did for my right Achilles. I'd not been avoiding longer runs intentionally, I think it's just because I've been running every day, I've tended to take shorter runs.

I got round fine and I'm not feeling any ill effects. I decided I'd run at about 8:10-8:20/mile pace, which feels nice and easy. If I don't monitor myself against my watch, I tend towards around 7:30-7:40 now. I largely kept to this pace, other than two miles on the seafront where I had the benefit of a tailwind blowing me along, meaning I averaged 8:03/mile overall.

I was somewhat surprised that Strava said this was my second best ever 10 miles because I really did feel like I was taking it pretty easy throughout, so it's a nice indication of my general improvement.

I wasn't even wearing the super Zoom Fly 3s either!

I wonder if the foam cushioning of the Zoom Fly 3 would add protection to the achilles?

Looking at Arena80's Half Marathon results from Sunday I noticed a few fast times from people in my time bracket and thought they'd run well. Yesterdays photos showed Vaporfly on each and everyone of the outperformers.

My Next0% are still in the box unworn. Today's sunshine and dry ground was going to be their maiden trip but I will stick to my rule of not running 3 consecutive days especially with an interval session.
