I wussed out of a long run for the second consecutive week, I did a swapsy yesterday evening for a shorter midweek run so have a nice little 17 miler to look forward to in a few days time.

Quite glad I did though as running into the breeze from the pier to the lagoon was bad enough then!

It also meant that I was able to do Parkrun as normal and I'm going to submit my first entry for 2020 to the gaffer knocky1 of 21.41. Huge thanks in the process to Simgull for picking me up on the final lap and seeing me home.

Forecast for Sundays half also getting slightly worse, now light rain all morning and a steady 20+ mph breeze, think I'm going to have a few beers in Sheffield on Saturday now and not make this half a PB attempt...

On NSC for over two decades...
I ran the swapped tempo run today, 6 miles at a target 7:15 per mile topped and tailed with a mile easy. Managed to keep to the target pace more or less which was pleasing what with the plan being rather at the mercy of the weather lately.

I popped along in 8 minutes per mile for my 8 mile run this lunch time, plenty of hills thrown in around Patcham. It's going to be a good looking map when I upload it later on. It was my first run in new running shoes for at least 2 years and I really felt the difference - I'd worn away the soles of my previous pairs so having a full layer of support on the bottom of the shoe was a rare treat. I managed to avoid the rain and the wind wasn't too bad.

More bloody wind! I don’t think I will, but I’m almost tempted to run there and back to use the HM to pad out a 21 mile long run.

PB’s are unlikely I’d say.

I am struggling to get to park runs this year, as my sons football team has moved training to 3G at a time that clashes. Is it only park run times you count in the table? I have just acquired a old garmin watch (forerunner 305), but I can not upload the data. Has anyone got an ideas?

All clear today on my biopsy result and back to grinding out marathon training miles.
Have decided to concentrate on long slow hilly runs twice a week. One midweek of 15 miles and 16 miles and building near the end of the week. Have already visited the "Why do I do marathons?" near the end of runs but feel I'm getting somewhere. Not pushing too hard on the day but hope to get around the 4 hour mark without any repitition of my normal walking wussiness at Hove Lagoon. Speed work and tempo can look after itself.

Thinking of Hove Park parkrun Saturday with a 40mph SW wind arriving at 9ish.

Sorry Parkrun and races only count towards the table.
I had a 305. Connected through Garmin Express and/or Garmin Connect to get to Strava. You could look for software updates? a factory reset? It is 10+ years old technology but should upload. Good luck.

Great news knocky1. You'll be leading this group for quite some time yet! :clap2:

I timed my run today to absolute perfection. I had calls until 3pm and ended up leaving the office about 20 past. Nice and crisp, ideal running conditions and no fresh rain. Plenty of standing water to try and avoid in my new running shoes on the Falmer Road and a perfect 10 mile route.

Heading off to Angmering on the train on Sunday morning to enjoy a 16-17 mile plod home with a 20mph push from behind.
Is there a coastal track/path from LA (Littlehampton) to Ferring? I know the route from Ferring to home.

From memory, apart from maybe having to wiggle through Angmering (or East Preston beach - it's not a long stretch) the path (mix of made up path and sometimes just grass) runs basically all the way along just behind the beach to the Bluebird caff. Wlaked most of it a few weeks ago.

Thanks. Should be fun. 40mph forecast now for Sunday morning. Bad news for the Brighton Half entrants and rain thrown in. Must be the curse of the Ninja!

Not me, Gaffer! I'm not entered. :lolol:

The contrast to last year is striking, it was so hot people were melting last year!

Weather looks shocking for Sunday but last year I was delighting in the "perfect conditions" prospect and ended up completely blowing up on 10 miles and limping home. This time round I am going to try to run to effort, even if that means a few mega slow miles in to the wind, so that I can save myself for a speedy final 5k blast along the seafront with the breeze. My original target of sub 1.45 seems a little out of reach but if I beat last year then it'll technically be a PB as my other efforts were struck from the books during length-gate :(

Good luck on Sunday all. I’ll be on the water stall near Hove Plinth at 11 miles and will try to give anyone i see a cheer!

Did my long run today -13 miles of hills- tough out there again! Hove Park tomorrow if anyone else apart from knocky1 is there - assume @BEB will be half way to Sheffield by then.

The Forecast wasn't too bad yesterday, now it looks hideous! I am meeting some mates at the back on the blue pen or front of the yellow pen. I was going to target a PB of 1.45 as well but it doesn't look ideal TBH! Perhaps the diversion up two side roads on the long drag back from Brighton to Hove may be a blessing if its that windy! See you Sunday.

Same as a few others on here, was looking to have a go at a pb but no chance with the weather, plus the fact I am still shifting this cold. Hope we are not running into the wind too much.
