Bloody Worthing!
4 miles July, 25 miles June, 30 miles May and just the marathon and Adur20 in April.

Finally paid the price for lack of training with a hard 23:42 at the Prom. Went for slow tempo 7:49, 7:45, 7:25 and a sub 6:00 run in.

Time to add some 8:30s into training and build up mileage.

Bit of a 'great minds think alike' thing going on here. I too did a Long Slow Run today - my first and furthest (10 miles which for me is like an ultra) of the year. Unfortunately my knees are complaining in a big way. I've not had a bad year in that I've kept going and hit a consistent 70-76% (usually depending on the course) range in 5ks but the body keeps reminding me that it's not getting easier. Welcome to the 60s!

I like that it's fully on grass, I'm planning on getting down there next weekend. I didn't run it, I was too late to start - I would have done if I knew the course properly, but I've not done it yet so I didn't get involved. It was an odd experience watching a parkrun rather than competing. You planning on giving it another go next week?

Probably won't get there for a while now. Went cos a mate wanted to do it. It's tough, especially in the heat. Interesting course and well sound people

There's a programme on BBC1 this evening (7.30-8.00) on the 'Parkrun Phenomenon' fittingly fronted by Kelly Holmes. She was at the one I did on Saturday and Mrs GNT noticed that she had a cameraman with her. So I'm rather hoping (well, expecting actually) that the cameras captured the full magnificence of my age cat victory and thus pushes the relatively trivial sporting achievements seen at Lords, Wimbledon and Silverstone into their rightful place...…………

Looking forward to it. Could be start of a career on TV.

I’m still waiting after appearing on South Today in 1970 dressed as a green space monster on a bouncing bunny behind my Dad’s Company Star Trek float in the Eastbourne Carnival.

I'll have you all know I was on the "Brighton Marathon" report on whatever Meridian Tonight is these days. 8000 competitors and they choose to show a bald bloke with silly glasses, rock tape in the wrong place and his own drink

what a lovely lady, Dame Kelly Holmes that is (although I'm sure so is Dame GNT). A brilliant ambassador for ParkRun.

Well not so lovely in my view! I was left on the cutting room floor while she took all the glory. I can only that she - and her entourage - are under the delusion that somehow here double-Olympic golds somehow trump my Age Grade triumphs at Bognor Regis and the like.

Seriously, it was a very good programme and served to remind me that the participants at the back of the field are to be valued (perhaps even more) than the guys at the front of it. Very heart-warming stuff.

I got to meet Dame Kelly a couple of months ago - in person she was every bit as open, enthusiastic and generous as she appeared in the programme last night. Great programme and great to feel that all of us are part of the parkrun story.

Thanks Curious Orange. When I'm not stressed at the moment I'm drunk watching cricket.
Rohan Ince's Python will need to post his 5K time again. I'm afraid I've lost it in the wealth of posts on NSC Official Running Thread.

Hopefully in the final throes of the South American gut issue I picked up that's screwed my schedule a bit for a further couple of weeks (after 2 week holiday and 2 week business travel) but have at least just hit the 1,000 mile mark for the year.................lot of work to do now though to get fit for the next big effort in September. Might have a pop at parkrun on Saturday to see where I am - won't be good.

Well what can I say. I completed the RTTS 100k Ultra Marathon this weekend. Its hard to sum up the emotions that you go through during this type of event. Its is definitely the hardest thing I have ever done, I have copied my Facebook post 24 hours after I finished as it reflects how I was feeling.

"Now had 24 hours to reflect on the RTTS ultra. What an amazing event, the marshalls and pitstop crews were all amazing. The fellow runners so supportive and encouraging. The people I ran with inspired me to keep going when the going really did get tough. The last 12k after leaving the final pitstop are a blur of emotions. How long did it take from 88k to 89k, it felt like 10 miles not 1k, then the high of hitting the 96k marker when I was expecting 95k. The delight of then arriving at the Avebury stones, then to the emotion of the finish line. It's the hardest, toughest thing I have taken on. I only got through to the end thanks to Tiffany Spicer, Bruce Mehew and Ian Spicer who made me believe I could do it, they were right, I DID IT, I ran, walked, crawled 100k. I have never felt so exhausted as I did when I got over that line, but now I look back with a massive smile. It was brutal but I loved it. ♥♥"

Another local news whore here! I was interviewed for BBC South East when I did my triathlon-marathon a few years back. Filmed swimming in King Alfred and cycling and running along the prom. Was also meant to be on the Channel 4 programme covering Brighton Marathon (they got me swimming in the sea at Brighton one morning and I was interviewed while running on the day by Jenni Falconer and Iwan Thomas), but they cut me out at the last minute :annoyed::rant:

Anyway, to less showbiz appearances, had a lovely 10-miler into Lancing and back along the front around the Beach this morning. Longest midweek run for ages!
