i'm back! After last year's strenuous efforts I have had a miserable 12 months of hamstring injury followed by Plantar Fasciitis. I have kept fit in the gym and spinning and finally managed my first run of the year at last week's Orpington parkrun. Happy days, but slow ones.

I've made it to 1,000 miles for the year after a 10 mile run tonight. Didn't plan to run that far but at 7.5 remembered I could reach a thousand for the year so extended the run. Not my most memorable and took it pretty easy with the Brighton 10k Sunday.

Bearing in mind I had to run 14 miles on NYE to reach 1,000 miles for the first time ever last year, I'm pretty happy to have reached that figure with 7 weeks of the year remaining.

There must be a fair few on NSC who have either gone past or approaching a thousand?

Thank BN, that reminded me that I was going to check the scores on the doors – 769 miles for me. Too much cycling and swimming going on over the summer months to keep on track for 1,000 miles. Started off OK in January with 101, then promptly dropped into the 60s by April, hitting a mojo-less 50.9 in September! Ah well, 2019 is another year. Might see if I can get to 900 by 31st December.

864 miles fir me to date. I guess I’ll be just under 1000 at year end.

I hear around 130 vegan runners will be at Hove Park parkrun on Saturday - time to make my Lancing debut I think.

Ha ha! Anything to avoid the Pom-Poms Doris! I thought they'd all boycotted it due to the association with that egg company. Bunch of snowflakes

No football training for Jnr tomorrow – but that's only because we're Peppa Pig World-bound at 8am...

Just received an email advertising the Adur and Worthing 20 which is 2 weeks before the Brighton Marathon. Seems ideal prep for the marathon runners out there.

It's on my birthday – and on my doorstep. No brainer for me – I'm all over it, even though I'm not doing Brighton or London.

I’ve noted 1853 as the page for the latest table but will be off from this weekend. Good running everyone.

Anyone who does update the table please remember to get Badger s half marathon time wrong....

According to Strava I'm just over 1,275 miles for the year so far, so for the first time ever I might hit 1,500 miles by the end of the year

649 miles for me and no real layoff. Too much work, too much eating and then, just as the mojo came back and I hit a PB, injury.

Good news is the bits that were hurting have stopped so I'm off for a slow but long-ish plod tomorrow to restart the assault on Brighton 2019.

A massive 564 miles for me. My second highest annual total. Running doesn't agree with me.
A training total of one slow 5k in 3 weeks, a bottle of Harvey's and a bottle of Morgon last night was my preparation for today's pre trek Parkrun. Decided to get the yellow racing slippers out and see if they would kick my body into gear. A beautifully swept Hove Prom, a slight Easterly wind and a good Arena80 21:00 pacer combined with the race shoes to give me my second best run of the year. Unofficially 20:41 and grabbing 2nd place from Herr Tubthumper in the Age Grade percentages but a long way from @GNT.

I'll now see if another 4 weeks off running will help me run faster in Christmas week............................

My second Parkrun today with the sister-in-law. Slowly increasing her pace towards sub 30 minutes which will be a real achievement for her. Got to do one on my own in a couple of weeks to see what I can do on my own as should be around the 25 minute mark.

Now sat in the car in the drive as I didn't take any house keys with me and the Mrs has gone shopping! Am going to have to saw her phone in half as despite never missing a thing on Facebook she somehow never realises when the bloody thing is ringing! :shootself

Headed over to Lancing this morning for the first time. Nice run, cold easterly wind didn’t help but finished 16th of 159 in 21:55. Legs feeling a bit heavy after a tough session on Wednesday.
Enjoyed an excellent bacon sandwich in the Perch cafe afterwards.

20:39 today. Not an SB but an AG PB of 77% in a career going back to 1968. More work on the track next year, plus marathon training and I should improve on this. Well done @GNT but it's not over till Saturday 29th December.........

Now more importantly have we got Badger s half marathon time correct?

Well done mate: I can now feel your hot breath on the back of my neck (but not in a gay sort of way). As for me a 22.01 in Worthing (74.79%). Windy but this time from the east. Slight improvement on last week but a long way from an SB. Just getting under 22 again is about the limit of my ambition for the remainder of 2018 (but you never know)…………..

There would have to be a lot of viagra involved for you two to go at it Brokeback Mountain style.

Getting back to running the easterly today was good assistance for the Prom finale unlike the mile and a half struggle into it at Worthing.

Bloody Worthing!
The NSC Challenge for 2019. I’ll be up for it, no viagra needed.

Yes indeed. 2018 this has been a poor year for me; it's not just that the times are a bit iffy, but the old ego has taken a battering as age category wins have pretty rare. Partly this is because Worthing has become a bit of a target for 'outsiders' who come to do superfast times. This time there was an old geezer who clocked well under 20. I'll have to set-up roadblocks soon!
