Did you stop of in Seattle? I’m there for 3 nights in two weeks time. Coincides with the Seattle half and full marathon but at $110 for the half ill stick to running around the Pacific coastline for free. Any suggestions for things to do or running routes?

No North from Vancouver, over to Vancouver Island, down the length of that and ferry from Victoria,BC to Port Angeles in the States. It's to the west of Seattle. Wouldn't do what we did. Cycled up to the top car park of Olympia NP, got into a hot spring, joined by an old weirdo, who put a gun on the edge of spring, strip naked and got in with us. We cycled quickly down hill in freezing temperatures, got soaked near the tent by rain and then spent a windy pouring night in the soaking wet tent.

Heard good reports about Seattle. Enjoy it.

About time too. It happened in Monterey. A long time ago I was running around 18 mins at 36. Will update. Good running. As this thread is about me, must say I also enjoyed Monterey when cycling from Vancouver to LA, with tent, food, cooker and assorted gear into a 40mph El Niño headwind and torrential rain for 6 weeks. It was sunny after SAN Francisco!

That sounds like an amazing trip (apart from the weather). I took the train when I did a trip from Vancouver to LA 10 years ago!

Unfortunately there's no half marathon time to report for me today. The whole race was cancelled because of the air quality warnings from the smoke blowing down from the wildfires north of San Francisco. It's very hazy and smells a bit like a campfire outside, it's followed us down from SF. Slightly annoying, but I wasn't planning on racing this one. I feel bad for all those people who've trained for it and made the trip here just for the race. It looks like it's going to be a bit better tomorrow, so I'll try and get my long run in then. A drive down the coast to Big Sur is the new plan for today

Someone needs to take over the table as I'm out of here next weekend. 1579 is the page number for this latest table so someone needs to note that down. It's a quiet time of year so you lazy****s should be OK. If not I'll do it in 4 weeks. Page jotted on calendar....

Yesterday was my first run in more than a week –*11.11 miles, the second half being into the wind along the seafront from Hove to SBS. Half expected to see Guinness Boy, but no joy. Legs were battered but I forced myself out for a little recovery run this morning, Sadly not getting anywhere near a parkrun anytime soon, by the look of it because of Bobkin Jnr's football training.

I also signed up for Mouth to Mouth marathon on 2nd December – anyone else in?

No I’ll be at the Downland Devil that day. Still need to enter though, so thanks for the reminder.

Just had an email to say that the June 2019 Worthing 10k is the 30th anniversary and will also feature a 5k and kids’ mini mile.

Still zero chance of me entering :lolol:

Back in the day this used to be held on a Wednesday evening (still in June) and start/finish on the track at the Leisure Centre. It seemed to be mainly a club event but now it's huge and a track start would be somewhat congested. Memories.....

I've made it to 1,000 miles for the year after a 10 mile run tonight. Didn't plan to run that far but at 7.5 remembered I could reach a thousand for the year so extended the run. Not my most memorable and took it pretty easy with the Brighton 10k Sunday.

Bearing in mind I had to run 14 miles on NYE to reach 1,000 miles for the first time ever last year, I'm pretty happy to have reached that figure with 7 weeks of the year remaining.

There must be a fair few on NSC who have either gone past or approaching a thousand?

Nice !

Missed most of March, April and May injured so well below last year here, currently on 1,151. Might get to 1,350/1,400 perhaps.

Congatulations to big nuts on the 1k, I'm nowhere near and won't get there again this year. 829 for me, which is considerably down on my target. It's been a very unfocused year for me and as a result it's been quite a negative years experience overall. The only positive came in February with the Half Marathon time in Worthing, but everything since has been fairly poor. 2019 is another year!

864 miles fir me to date. I guess I’ll be just under 1000 at year end.

I hear around 130 vegan runners will be at Hove Park parkrun on Saturday - time to make my Lancing debut I think.

Congrats! How do you track your miles so precisely? I'm not big on wearable technology, I don't even own a watch. If it's a fitbit what kind do you have?

Cheers,

Dave

Top effort :clap2:

This year I've gone waaaay beyond any distance I've covered before. I passed 2,000k just over a week ago, now up to 2,039k (1,267 miles) and counting. I've been lucky to have an almost injury-free year, training for a marathon in the winter, keeping up good distance for events over the summer and now I've just started training for a February marathon. I'll probably be pushing 2,500k by the end of the year.

I think most people on here, like me, use a GPS watch and upload runs to Strava. Garmin seems to be the brand of choice for most.

I think they’re all going to be doing the Brooks 10k (or whatever’s it’s now called) on Sunday too
