Ah ok - I was erring towards that one, as it's a bit closer to our hotel. I'll look out for friendly faces in Albion colours among all the Welsh crowds!
Colours ? In Cardiff ??! [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]

Not strictly a running thing but I've been really struggling with an injury recently, heres the story.
I am fairly fit / active but mainly HIIT / Strength / Circuits work - between 30-60 minute blocks of work 4-5 times a week. Fairly mixed activities and between Cardio, Strength, Plyometrics.
On Monday I had some discomfort in what felt like my hip, like I needed to stretch my leg constantly or 'roll' my hip. Over the next 24 hours the pain got worse to the point I was in 10/10 agony without touching my leg or moving it, and could not lift it or do anything. I have a very high pain threshold so my missus knew it was bad if I was practically in tears of pain and unable to lift my leg at all. Ended up in a trip to A&E at 2am because the pain was that bad and nothing was helping it (ibuprofen, co-codomal, ice packs / heat packs)
Turned out I had really inflamed tendons from my knee to groin and was prescribed anti-inflammatories which have been working so I am at least mobile again but still some discomfort particularly lifting my leg up. Now the reason I am posting here is the Dr in A&E said it could have been bought on by running a lot of long distances or similar. Given I just wanted to get out of there at 4.30am I didn't really ask many questions but I am wondering now what I should do in terms of
1) Getting back into fitness, how long should I leave it.
2) Is there anything that can help this? I don't have any massages or see chiropractors but is this something I should be considering?
Pre-match Parkrun advice requested for Saturday please: there seem to be two parkruns accessible to central Cardiff, namely Cardiff and Grangemoor.
The former seems much better attended than the latter and may be the obvious choice, although Grangemoor is closer to the stadium. Has any NSC runner done either or both of them and can share their knowledge?

Worthing - as windy as last week - 22.25 (73.46%). Bit disappointing; could have pushed myself more. Awaiting the Cardiff parkrun results from the Ultras...……………….
Good old Dunk.
I've had 2 weeks off with headache, stomach bug, male flu type problems. Still not 100%. Got out on the Prom this morning. They'd managed to miraculously clear a narrow path through all the shingle washed up by last night's storm. A struggling 22:20 is best I could come up with. Off for Everest Base Camp trek next Sunday so have run out of time to beat the AG Champ this month. Will be back from trekking week before Christmas so will give it a go before the New Year and hope 4 weeks walking at altitude will see me home.

Got 22:30 at Cardiff (I think - the results still aren’t up 10 hours later, what a shower)... which I was happy with given a) the weather conditions; and b) that they ran it on an “alternative” course, not mentioned on the Parkrun website, with a start point nearly a kilometre away from the normal start point, which meant I got there with only seconds to spare already knackered having sprinted from the wrong start point (apparently they tweeted about the change a couple of days ago... ).
Apart from that it was a good run in the rain, flat course and very crowded. Didn’t see any other Albion shirts or faces though ...

Mr Commitment is bloody injured so you can happily stalk Strava again knocky1
A progressive 5 on Friday and stretching over a mattress during my daughter's sleepover to retrieve a soft toy have left the old left knee aching and a slight groin strain that won't thank me for 10+ miles tomorrow. Plus the weather's iffy and I've been to the pub. But my legs really do need a Sunday of rest.

Sorry to hear that. I want to lose to a well trained and fully fit @GB and have us both go sub 4.
knocky1 get that table updated, I've finally got a 5k time!
I took part in the Pacific Grove Lighthouse 5k in Monterey, California this morning. A fairly flat out and back, with a couple of little climbs but an annoying head wind on the way back. I went for it from the start but I was struggling with my breathing a little bit as I've had a bit of congestion this week, not helped by the smoke from the wildfires descending on San Francisco.
Having said that, I'm very happy with my time, crossing the line at 18:09 (72.73% AG). I placed 12th overall and annoyingly I came 4th in my AG. It's 2 months until I'm in the 35-39 category, I would have got second in that! Instead I was denied by a couple of 30 year olds and a 33 year old.
It's a race weekend, with tomorrow's half marathon being the main event. I'm not planning on racing that one hard as I did my goal HM three weeks ago. Monterey is a really nice place, I'd definitely recommend visiting. Their main event is the Big Sur Marathon in April but this weekend is organised by the same people.
Loved Monterey when I visited a few years ago. Did a couple of amazing dives in the kelp forests.
21:46 at HP for me - pretty happy with that after a couple of weeks away.
By the way i notice fourth place at Preston Park this week was ‘The Badger’. Is that the Compkete one or is there a third one on the scene?

About time too. It happened in Monterey. A long time ago I was running around 18 mins at 36. Will update. Good running. As this thread is about me, must say I also enjoyed Monterey when cycling from Vancouver to LA, with tent, food, cooker and assorted gear into a 40mph El Niño headwind and torrential rain for 6 weeks. It was sunny after SAN Francisco!
