Offical time 02:02:06 so a few seconds better than I thought. This running thing is a bloody slippery slope, suddenly wishing I had pushed harder to nip in under the two hour mark when before the event I was happy with anything under 2.5 hours!

Thanks to all for the encouragement. You guys (and ladies) spur me on to get better and break my own records next year :bounce:
Excellent first Half Marathon, now you can target that sub 2 hour next time. Hope the vino is going (gone?) down well!!

My 9-year old daughter participated in her first Junior Park Run today - instigated by the after school Running Club she is in.

Getting up at 06.45am on a cold rainy day didn't feel great, but what a fantastic event with great volunteers, great spirit and superbly organised, with 100+ kids running in the pouring rain with smiles on their faces. All free, too. She can't wait to go back next week - and truth be told, neither can I. And her 7-year brother wants to run next time too, so I registered him on Park Run tonight.

I'm know I'm late to the party, but Park Run is a fantastic institution.

Going down very nicely and nearly gone. May be approaching gin o'clock. Booked the day off work tomorrow anyway so why not celebrate!

Definitely looking for a sub two hour run next time.
On a side note, nobody warned me about sack chaffing from running in the rain! (maybe too much sharing/wine)

Get lycra undershorts (tights). I wear them for all running. Chafed knacksack not good.

Hope you wasn’t wearing those shorts with a mesh lining - ouch. Try pants or cycling shorts underneath next time

Been absent for a while from this thread but after picking up an achilles injury training for a sub 3hr marathon earlier on in the year, my focus became recovering from that and then just enjoying the Melbourne marathon later on in the year. Ended up running a 3:21:11 at Melbourne marathon yesterday which I'm pretty happy with given the easy-paced long runs in the lead up. Had to battle leg cramps for the last 7k in the 24 degree heat, but fortunately I was able to manage the cramps this time around!

My wife thought she was going to get to stay in bed whilst I watched Junior Orange play football in the rain... until Littlest Orange piped up that she wanted to run

I managed a 24.08 (SB 24.06) at SWF parkrun on Saturday, so no update required for me.
Back to Maldon next week, aiming for 23.xx

Thanks, although as mentioned you may be making my time even worse by comparison by putting it in the 10m column!

I did a 10k in September and clocked 00:54:11, can post a link to the official results if necessary :D

Have a park run account and will be making my debut in a couple of weeks.

Good track session at Withdean tonight after nearly 2 bottles of wine yesterday. 300m, 30sec rest,400m, 30 sec rest,500m,30 sec rest, 400m. Three reps with 3 mins rest between each rep. Looks great on Strava. 3.17 miles in 17:57 at 5:39 mile pace. Best session since 1996. Beginning to feel less f***** after the sessions now.

I'll be giving it up for a few weeks now. Drinking, that is, not running........
