Ran another personal best 5th in 6 attempts at peacehaven, PB reduced by over a minute, really pleased with pacing and strong finish. Time 23.38

Made up my mind to run first ever £10k at Phoenix now.

We should have an NSC PB / SB ladder for the 4 distances, it could act as a guide for building "Albion" running teams in future.

That's good progress Seaford!
A pb/sb table could be set up but for the older runners our pbs stopped over 20 years ago. I tend to forget those days now and look at the current year. All it needs is for people to add their time to the table in SB time order. Like this and maybe drop the pb.

5k sb. 5k pb.
Knocky1 22:52. 17:45
Seaford by the Sea 23:38. 23:38

Table is looking good so far! Both medaling.
You'll have to meet the NSC runners before the Phoenix 10k so you know who you're up against and a pint afterwards.

Dazzer SB - 20.22PB - 19.57
Knocky 22:52 17:45

I can't get a table to work but anyonbe wanting to play has to cut and paste above and put themselves into league position for 5K.

I agree for simplicity, we should drop the PB. But some impressive times in your pomp!

So I managed 25.02 on my first timed 5k. That was with a sprint(ish) finish for the last 20 seconds. Based on that, should I set my first target as being to get near 24 minutes?

I don't think I paced the run very well, could probably have sprinted for the last 45 seconds, I felt like I had a fair amount left in the tank afterwards.

Cracking start.....if you think you had a fair bit in the tank at the end then 24 might be a reasonable target, but maybe not in one go.......if you head for Hove Prom or Hove Park there are usually multiple pacers, if you're lucky there might be a 24-minuter. They try to run an even pace so are good to follow. Don't worry if you don't make 24 next time out, there will always be crap runs on the way. We all have them, sometimes no obvious reason (sometimes due to the Friday Night Drinking Thread [emoji23][emoji23])

I'd agree 24 minutes would seem a sensible target based on that practice 5k. The Prom is flat but the wind can be a major hindrance if it's strong. Hove Park has the benefit of no turns but it is relatively hilly in comparison.

I've paced 24 and 25 mins at Hove Park before and happy to try and help you get around in one or the other – or both. HP is a bit more difficult to get an even pack due to the undulations and the amount of people there, but I normally get it spot on...

Good luck to you on sub 20 at Clair. 4th finish excellent result. I may have fleetingly seen you, if you had a Brighton shirt on. I managed a full out 23:02 so sub 23 is a definite and as I return to fitness a sub 22 would be on the cards.
Challenging course but I had plenty of room going off fast with the 11 year old harriers to prevent any bottlenecks before settling into rhythm. The 4 kids paced me all the way before their coach shouted move on lads on the last lap and they all disappeared into the distance.
We'll have to have a Hove Park lot away day at Clair later in the year.

Just noticed 10 juniors in first 40 places. Good running from the boys. Just what you need as you get to the bottom of that bl**dy hill.

I did my first park run on Saturday, with a hangover! Went to see the Levellers in Tunbridge Wells and stayed over with some mates. Saturday morning we did the Tunbridge Wells Park Run at Dunorlan Park. Quite a hilly course, but a beautiful location. Finished 73/228 in 25.58. I can see how they can become addictive! With better preperation I would like to aim for 24 minutes, perhaps also a flatter course might held (Hove Prom). Yesterday I did a longer run and manager 12.6 miles @ 9.37, felt great, one of my best training runs. Also doing a July Abs challange with some mates, ouch! Also weighed myself at the gym yesterday for the first time in a long time and was 85kg, so that is heading in the right direction. My target is to get to and maintain 80kg.

The influx of the juniors has been quite recent - impressive running from them as well.

I sometimes venture to Tilgate. It's a lovely course with the lake & the wide paths plus it's all downhill or flat after the halfway marker. Best time there is 19:57 - on our promotion day!!
