For all you followers of parkrun records, what are your thoughts on them being removed from the parkrun website?
I think it's a bit of an own goal from Parkrun. There's massive negative backlash on social media - all the FB Parkrun groups etc. They've not only failed to take the heat out of the debate on gender and self-id (which I suspect was their intention), but have drawn its attention to many thousands of people who weren't aware of or interested in it, and royally pissed many of them off in the process.

Just as one example, there's a couple of older runners I'm aware of that travel around trying to get course records in their age group (65+, 80+ or whatever) at different Parkruns. They can't do that now. Sounds trivial, but it's one the things that motivates these old fellows to keep active in later life.

Yep, there's a few guys from my club who are a bit annoyed about not being able to compare age grade records. Also the guy with the most first finishes is a member of our club, haven't seen it yet but apparently he did an interview for the BBC earlier today.

So what’s the ultimate conclusion? Just records for the fastest person regardless of gender, etc? Then, what next? A runner says they want to identify as a 65 year old (even though they were born in 1999)?

Could be the thin end of the wedge for the end of competitive sport.

Such a shame given all the good PR does

Ollie Garrod? - yes I saw the interview. He's got the most first finishes globally I think. At least he knows no-one can take that record from him now...

He's mad. I think he does a Parkrun on the way to our Surrey League xc races. I need all the energy I can muster for them!

Nice guy, spoke to him after a recent LFOTM 5k at Hyde Pk. He wins most of them too.

Impressive running as always on here. Good work on the table by @Curious Orange
I'm now able to input new data but can't cut a row and repaste in a new position in the table. Any instructions Curious will help me share being the table monitor.

I've had a Radacanu 12 months (Rheumatoid arthritis, needle in foot and 3 months breathing isssues after covid). Followed @CHAPPERS advice and took it very easy whilst waiting to recover from that bastard chest. Swimming, walking and being able to get a low monthly slow running mileage has left me not too unfit.

It's the Moyleman in 4 weeks time and have decided to use it for slow, aerobic, endurance training. So Parkrun cancelled for a month (can't resist overdoing it) and Saturday will be on the Downs walking uphill and jogging along the rest. Tomorrow planning a 16 miler incorporating the first half of the Moyleman. Looking at 13"-14" miles.

If all goes to plan anaerobic work will be introduced in April. Might as well have my 5k SB go on the table 28:02 and 59.27%.

And you'll probably STILL finish ahead of me!

Before I rabbit on would be good to hear from the NSC Brighton Half Marathon entrants before Sunday.

I survived Saturday's 16 miler Lewes Downs training run. Thick fog, warm rain and slime made it a challenge and I lost my way on Castle Hill reserve. Decided to not complete my circuit and headed back the way I'd come. Walk/run gave me time to recover. Happy with progress. 12 and a half minute miles and 2,150' ascent.

The incessant rain would have made the Downs a quagmire for this weekend and the forecast is not looking good plus a temp drop to 8C. Not going to risk being soaked, knackered and cold on top of the Downs . So will be doing my second long run tomorrow on the pavements and hills of B&H. Content to be near Bus Stops and not have clogged up trainers.

If all goes well might manage a 30" recovery at Hove Park Parkrun Saturday morning.

I'm not running the half and will probably be on football duty with Bobkin Jnr, but good luck everyone running it.

Managed 1:42:51 in the Brighton Half yesterday which was pleasing after my watch froze at 7 miles meaning I ran to feel for the last 6 miles. Interesting wind to run into for the final 5k but that's the nature of the beast.

Signage could have been better, I think I only say two mile markers. Also way to many non runners at the start just generally getting in the way.

Worthing next to aim for 1:40

@Curious Orange if you could update the table to include this that would be great.

That was a hard slog yesterday, especially the last 5k along rhe sea front with 25mph winds full into the face!
Managed to crawl in at 1hr 36mins, the last three miles I was really hanging on and swearing into the wind!
Shout out to the crowds of Brighton & Hove who came out in their masses to support the runners. The final 1km was LOUD and got a few motivaitonal shouts wearing my Brighton training top! Spotted the Wheel of Steele at Rockwater, who gave me a 'G'on Fella', then saw Muzza on Hove Lawns with the family.
Big love and respect to all the volunteers and marshalls for giving up their morning to help create a very succesful event in our brilliant city.

Really enjoyed yesterday - even the last couple of miles into the wind... and super, super happy to get a PB of 1:36.

In fact, I felt like I had a little bit more in me so am going to try for a 1:30 at the Bath HM in 3 weeks time.

More importantly, this all means I'm on schedule for a sub 3:30 Brighton marathon which has been my main objective during my "year of no beer".

This is the first time I've ever worn "colours" (the long sleeve coaches training top) and I absolutely loved all the "Seagulls" cheers along the course.

The crowd were brilliant!

And yes, I realise my experience is almost identical to Albion Robster.
