Bloody Worthing!
Went to Bushy Park today: Mecca for Parkrunners. 1200 runners (sometimes there are more) and a big logistical challenge for the volunteers who run the whole operation with great efficiency. Flat, fast course in a lovely park. The downside was the congestion at the start - although with that many runners I was surprised it wasn't worse. 21.32 for me, OK and 116th in the field. Only 2nd in age cat and with an age grade that won't trouble the scorers. Nice outing and recommended. (But get there by 8.30 at the latest if you want to park.)

Inspired by the challenge of the new NSC table, I ran my best parkrun since July 2016 this morning. Probably peaked too early and won’t be troubling you again after today knocky1 but please enter me at 20:51, AG 73.70%.

Great effort! You will easily beat that this year. Didn't you do 10 miles the day before? Sub 20:30 is my prediction.

Thought I'd better add my solitary parkrun result of the year to the table - disappointingly I finished 20th on New Year's Day so I didn't get a clean sweep of 21's!

Bloody Worthing!
Double podium. AG Bronze and the more coveted sheer speed Bronze.

I'd just like to formally second Simgull's excellent proposal..........

Meanwhile how is the comeback doing? Plenty of time for this season stretching out in front of you.

Not much to report at my end (this is generally a good thing). Hoping that some warmer weather will help shave a few seconds here and there. Am keeping up a consistent (though no doubt flawed) winter programme of 'race' on Sat, longer run (but not long enough) Sunday, and at least 2 other short and nasty sessions in the week - usually intervals and something a bit hillier.
If ever anyone ever wants to be intimidated, cop a look at Artie's Strava page.

My comeback isn't. The hip won't allow more than a mile without aching for 2 days after. I've forgotten what running is.
The good side is that after 5 months of about 20 miles total my belly is only just starting to expand and I have only put on 2lbs.
It will be many months before I'm ready to show that I can't get anywhere near your times or AG.
I've noticed that Ninja has joined BHAC, big nuts is with Phoenix and I'm with Arena of course. Now if you join a local club you would be UKAC registered. We could all meet up for one or more of the Sussex Masters track meetings in the summer. Pick your choice from 800m, 1500m, 3000m and 5,000m all have old gits categories and you'd be up there with the finest.

For the racers amongst you, Keller Sports have great prices on the Vaporfly and Alphafly in the volt/orange colourway right now. Worth paying the £7.99 membership fee if you're not already a member (and given their prices you probably should be)...

Vaporfly £126 (£225 at Nike): https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-zoomx-vaporfly-next-2-running-shoe-RSCNI0L0000.html
Alphafly £133 (£270 at Nike): https://www.keller-sports.co.uk/p/nike-air-zoom-alphafly-next-running-shoe-RSCNI0KN000.html

Sorry to hear about the ongoing probs with the Knocky body. The only compensation is that it will be all the sweeter for you (and of course your legion of admirers!) when you finally do get back into the groove.
And thanks for the sage advice about joining a club. Over the years I've been on the cusp of joining one and then shied away. But I'm now going to do it. There's a relatively new club in Worthing called the Run Academy. I've seen them at various events and know one of them - actually their membership sec. They are affiliated to UKAC and (most importantly) they seem to be (how can I put this?) of the appropriate demographic.
So thanks for the nudge, mate.

Great news. Sussex needs you! Onwards and upwards. I've currently pencilled in the 12th of March for an attempt to win a Parkrun. Hush hush until afterwards when all will be revealed.

Sorry to hear that Gaffer. I hope the hip settles down soon and you're able to get some running in over the coming weeks. I'm sure you're all over this but trying out some light resistance band work might help, just a few minutes each day if there's no pain. Take it easy.

I'd echo your thoughts on the benefits of joining a running club. Most are very welcoming, with a social running community feel to them. Nothing better than working with others. It's a great way to improve.

:lolol: no need to feel intimidated GNT. There hasn't been a lot of exciting activity being logged from me. It's only been the last week or so that the running has felt somewhat smooth post Covid in November. I'm just looking to get back into a groove with some consistent comfortable aerobic volume, with a little dabble in some effort here and there. Nothing specific or crazy. Manchester is looking to be too soon for me to go full beans and target a time but I'll keep chipping away and make a call on it in a month or so. I won't be pushing it though. Just got to be patient and hopefully the fitness will start to show itself. All about playing the long game.

Cheers Guru. As you say I have been on the bands and have started a non strava walk/jog 4 miles session.

Got the highly coveted "Jeff's Junction" marshall position today on Hove Prom. Rather scary. Stand around on your own for 15 minutes and then suddenly have 400+ come running straight at you.
My research of runners turns would say that the 4 sharp turns on the Prom would make the course 10-15 seconds slower than a looped course or a one turn course.

Possibly unwisely on a day that was supposed to be a short easy run on the plan, I managed to get a respectable marker down for the year with a 18:49 at Nonsuch parkrun (AG 72.01%), will definitely pay for it on the long run tomorrow morning!

Anyone manage (or even try) to grab a pair of the Nike Streakfly when they released, and were available for about 3 seconds, yesterday morning?

I expect there will be people showing them off and seeing what they can do at Park Run next Saturday morning.
