Me and a couple of mates are trying to do at least a marathon or a half in a different new country each year. So far I have done Marathons in Iceland (Reykjavik), Cyprus and Norway (Tromso) plus HMs in Bosnia (Sarajevo) & Bulgaria (Sofia). Always amazed at the number of GB runners at the events I have done. Undecided for next year, possibly Yerevan in Armenia. Now I have ticked off every country in Europe it may mean looking further afield. I want to visit China and various places in South America so always on the hunt for something a little different. I have also entered the ballot for New York (gulped at the extortionate price) as NY been a place I have wanted to visit for a long time.

That sounds amazing. There must be such a contrast between doing races in all those countries.

Yes, a few of my friends did New York this year and the price is ridiculous. Chicago isn't much cheaper now either. I've only heard good things about NY (apart from the course being tough in places) but still hard to justify the price.

If you're ever looking to do a race in Canada (especially Toronto) let me know!

Thanks for the offer. I think I’m ok for Sunday. Would need one for Mince Pie but I don’t think you’re running that one?

Correct no Mince Pie for me.
I’ve Will Buckleyed my hamstring this week. 2 week return to swimming, bit of hill running, 100% Parkrun and a 17 mile walk on Sunday left me leg weary on Monday. Then it just came up from nowhere. Never had a back of thigh injury before. Could run if had to but playing safe and seeing Tim the new Jesus in the morning.

Hello all, haven't posted for a while as had lot's of stuff going on at home recently. Now the road running season is over (competition wise) I've got a cross country event in a couple of weeks with my club however I haven't got any trail shoes. Any tips from anyone? Read a lot of good things re Inov8 but they are pretty pricey. Happy to pay £100 for road shoes as I get a lot of use out of them but don't really want to spend much more than £50-60 for some trail shoes that will only be used about 10 times this winter.

Best of luck, Gaffer.

I'm going to be venturing over to Lancing on saturday to encourage Worthingite and Uncle Spielberg in their parkrun debuts. Followed by a nice slap up brekkie in the Beach Green cafe, of course!

Some reductions on Inov8 here > https://www.sportsshoes.com/products/inov8/mens/z/shoes/?$type=trail&l=36&d1=40&d2=90

I keep looking at these myself.

I've had these for a few years. Ran the Moyleman in them, also ran them in 12" of mud and 2' of snow. Never slipped once. Solid and light but comes up slightly narrow in the foot. Decathlon stock them but once you've got your size go here

Bad luck. I've had just the one 'hammie' go. It was in thick mud at Reigate parkrun. I think it took a couple of weeks to clear up. I'm sure you'll be back on the hunt for that NSC AG silver medal very soon.

Can't recommend x-talon's enough but if it's just xc and there isn't any stones/path on the courses then spikes would be better and cheaper

Cheers. Just been swimming and immediately found the cause. The kick off at each lap turn. Switched to left leg for time being and hope the massage sorts it tomorrow.

The new Jesus has done the job and I'll be at Hove Park in the morning.

Further news the original Jesus is returning from Canada with family in May but probably not to deal with us as wants to become more specialised. Could work together with Tim which would be a good team.

Great see you there - I’m planning on pacing 25s if you fancy a jog and a chat.

Still planning on hitting Lancing with the debut boys Worthingite and Uncle Spielberg tomorrow. :clap2:

Hopefully nobody outrageously quick shows up so I can dominate from start to finish and swell my ego a bit further.

The way to pace 25s at Hove Park is to run 24 min pace all the way and then stand for a minute by the finish funnel yelling encouragement at those labouring down the hill. Right Greg Bobkin ?

I know it’s frowned on by many purists on here but can anyone recommend a decent pair of wireless earphones for connecting to my iPhone for listening to music when running.

Even better if I can buy it from Amazon I will.... Bozza

Love you big time.

I always run with music. I use AirPods but they are ridiculously expensive and one of mine has recently stopped charging which is annoying.

I’ve built up an Amazon gift balance from past birthdays and I’m trying to decide between the AirPods Pro or the Beats something-or-other which have the same internals. It’s extravagant, but it doesn’t feel like real money.

Stat Brother bought some today from Amazon - I assume he put in some research first.

This is a great corner of NSC and i've broken my NSC silence to say thanks. . I had some great advice and encouragement when i showed up pre- summer when i'd started running for the first time. Who knew how addictive it can get. So thanks to those that liked my post and replied with help.
And who knew that if you keep at it, you get quicker and you can go further. !
Now i'm booked into the Brighton Half Marathon, doing about 30-40K every week up and down the hills of my bit of mid Sussex, and Regents Park when i get a break at work lunchtimes. i've gone from about 65m or so for a very struggling 10K first time out,, to 53m last time i did a race and managed to shave off about 6 or 7 mins my Park Run PB in the last few months.
As Bozza says - helps if you march around fields and commons with a dog from time to time as well. Also found Strava to be great way to keep competitive and set silly motivational targets (i think i might do a run every day during Advent for some reason) .
I do football coaching on Saturdays so that curtails Park Runs during the season but will be at Hove Park and the Prom over Xmas. Aiming for a 25min or so PR - have started to do a few 4.45min 1Ks during normal runs so i think its doable.

Ha! On a bad day, yes! I get mortified if my parkrun pacing is off, but HP is often a tricky nut to crack – very difficult to get an even pace all the way around. However, now I've figured out how to use my watch properly, I'll be back to nailing those splits!
Simgull, I will hopefully be there tomorrow and – if so – will happily accompany you around for 25 mins.

Will you be at Preston Park on Christmas day, chaileyjem?

My parkrun (intended) calendar for the next few weeks is spectacular;
November 30th - Lancing
December 7th - Kettering or Milton Keynes
December 14th - Peacehaven
December 21st - Darlington
December 25th - Preston Park
December 28th - Norwich
January 1st - Hove Promenade / Hove Park

If I do the remaining ones in 2019, I'll end the year with 43. Should have been shooting for 44 but for Peacehaven sneakily being cancelled the summer morning I cycled over there... Not to mention missing out on New Years Day due to extreme hangover!
