Bloody Worthing!
Yes I’ll be there. Looking forward to it. Hoping for a pb but I’ve just had 11 consecutive days of drinking 1.5/2 bottles of wine. Hoping my mileage offset some as I covered 90k in those 11 days. Also ran in temperatures between 22-25 degrees so the forecasted 19 degrees for Worthing Sunday shouldn’t be too problematic.

I’ll see you there. Anyone else running?

Yep: I'm planning to have a crack at it. I'll be piss-poor as all I do these days are parkruns and only entered for it today on a whim - but I might scrape into the top 10 for my age category. You did a sub-40 there - last year or 2017?

Both years. 39:28 2017 39:53 2018. If the wind holds off it's a quick course so I'd hope to beat my pb which was the BM 10k last month which was 38:35. We will have to see on the day. Looking forward to it regardless and hope to see you there.

A 10k? On tarmac? In the heat? Count me... nowhere near Worthing

Good luck all. I'm looking after a slightly dodgy groin still, so even if I wanted to, I'd probably do myself more damage! Still running, although I did have to slow to a walk after two and a bit miles this morning. Not really the calf, just tired!

Can't Artie have a table all to himself and let the rest of play nicely?

Have finally self diagnosed peroneal tendinitis in my foot/Achilles. Massage tonight. Will get some feedback then.

Deserve it as ran hills and speed too aggressively after time off and then ran an SB with the soreness present.

Nice in the sea now, with a Tri suit, so will get on with that daily and ask tonight if I can get out on the road bike.

:lolol: I just think it's brilliant so many of us are getting out for runs and the encouragement, advice and support on this thread is ace. Plus I'm sure there's rapid Brighton fans that haven't discovered the NSC Runners table just yet.

I bloody hope not! I've come to terms with you and Badger, and big nuts stepping up his pace over all distances - but anyone else coming out of the woodwork would be inappropriate! I'm beginning a training cycle for the Bournemouth Marathon (and Beachy Head, I'll be giving that one a go!) after playing a football tournament in Leicester in a couple of weeks. I'm excited!

Morning all, just sticking this on here, having read the post from Westdene Seagull about his friend. I was wondering if there was any kind of running-related thing we could do to try and raise some money? Not sure what as I've just read it and had the thought, but I'm strangely drawn to something like a 12-hour relay around Hove Park with buckets collecting cash, or something stupid like that?

Something that will raise some decent amount of money?

Over to you to suggest, or tell me to shut up and forget about it!

Is indeed a sad story. I'll give you a tenner, if you run round Hove Park for 12 hours.... Remember to ask for notes not coins in your bucket!

To be honest, I'm more of a donater than a raiser. I raised funds for Macmillan in the first marathon I ran, everyone was motivated to support me for that one but the following year enthusiasm was largely gone and I'm not overly comfortable asking for money. I support many a cause but leave it aside from my running interests.

I'm planning on Bournemouth parkrun tomorrow, I ran 20:39 when I ran it before in 2018 - I'll be looking to beat it and go sub-20 if possible but it's been a tough week training wise so I might not have much pace to burn. I may also be quite hungover, which may or may not be a problem!

I was like a MACHINE this morning.

Am I destined just to get faster and faster until the wheels come off???

Yes.

But maybe not - what sort of sessions are you doing? Are you doing any gym work as well as running? If you're going out and running however many miles, but aren't doing anything else, you will naturally get quicker until you reach a natural level and then your performance will probably balance off. The key is running at different tempos, throwing in fewer miles at a higher pace, and more miles at a slower pace will boost endurance.

Peroneal tendinitis for me. Had the tendons from foot to knee and up to ITB and back down on the inside of the leg well massaged yesterday incorporating myofascial release. Incredible tightness everywhere. Still not ready to run but hope to be able to plod soon.

Swimming in sea going well. Try and make it daily. I’ve inadvertently become a lazy leg kicker. Concentrating on kicking hard for running cross training and every 6-10 kicks I noticed I stop kicking and glide. Must be the triathlon theory of saving your legs during the swim. Time to rectify that weakness and kick on.
