Vault away kit? Or home with number 40 on? Both lined up very close to me at the start but couldn't quite keep up with either. I was wearing last season's home shorts and thought the cheers were for me until I noticed the two shirts a bit in front of me! :lolol:

Home kit with 40 on it, like to wear it on races as you do get the cheers or jeers - noticed a few palace tops around as well. I was at the back of the blue pen at the start, guess we must have been close to each other. Will try and say hi next time.

I was at the very front of the yellow with the 1.45 pacer (didn't last long with him though :lolol: ) so just saw your back. Was lined up almost next to a guy in the vault shirt. We were kept back from your wave by about a minute and I never quite caught up but was running with the guy in the away shirt for a fair while.

There were Palace everywhere (grr) as I think their equivalent of AITC put in a team. There were also two guys from Charlton in the Community. I'm assuming I beat the Charlton guys as they never got past me and it was nice to turn round from stretching out my hamstrings at the end to see a Palace fan puffing over the line

After promising myself never ever going to attempt Brighton Marathon again, I've been following a training plan pretty well since Jan. Last one was 2015 and nowhere near the shape I was in then, but did the Richmond half last week in about 1:51 and then completed 17 miles on Saturday but was really suffering at the end. Got a 19 miler lined up for a couple of weeks then will decide I think!

Sounds like you're well on track to me - several weeks left yet, and you only need say 3 more long runs, and no need to go past 20m. Also, 17m would feel hard at the end if you haven't gone that far for a long time so don't worry about that.

Hi guys, congrats to all Brighton Half runners! *MedalMonday* Also well done to all those that got out for runs this weekend.

I navigated a steady 22 miler safely yesterday at a comfortable effort. Now into the final 3 big weeks before a 3 week taper leading into Manchester.

I ended up running a Serpentine Running Club "Last Friday of the Month" 5K race in Hyde Park on Friday with a few work colleagues. Super happy to have gone sub 17 for the first time with a new PB of 16:55. The age grade was 81.6% but I'm not sure if their age grading is the same as parkrun (our NSC table)? - https://www.serpentine.org.uk/rdb/showrunner.php?id=46441

I'm feeling like all the hard work on this long training cycle is paying off. :) Just need to tick off the final few weeks and be ready to give it my best at Manchester.

I suppose we should stick to a standard AG. Parkrun won't say which one they use but it is exactly the same as the WMA AG (Howard Grubb) for my times. Now I don't know your age so had to guess from the figures that you are 41? Your Parkrun AG would be 81.3% for our table. If you're not 41 it's back to the drawing board......

Even more scary than the time is that I know someone else who did that event who said that it was 'undulating'. What would our Artie be like on the flat-lands of Hove Prom??

I thought it was flat but I think it depends on what you're used to. It's pretty hilly with a lot of up and down where I live so running in central London feels super flat. There were a couple of tight turns but Strava recorded the route in Hyde Park with a 89 ft elevation gain which for me is a very kind course.

Hi all, just looking for some quick advice. I am doing both Brighton and London Marathons this year for a charity very close to my heart. So far been really struggling to fit the training in, due to long work hours and shared custody of kids at w'ends! My main focus at the moment is to get one long run in a week and a park run at the w'end. Although now have a serious dose of manful, so doing nothing currently! I am an ok runner, but just wanted to check if I am reasonably on track or do I need to panic!? Really want to get sub 4 hour if poss. Recent long runs, last 4 weeks, 17k (10.5 miles) at 1:30, 1:26 & 1:22 in that order and last week a really poor half marathon in the wind and rain at 1:48. recent park runs, 21:10 and 20:50. But done nothing for a week because of the lurgi. Does that sound like i am in reasonable shape for sub 4 hour? My plan is to do another half marathon asap and knock some time off and then up the distance to 16 miles and repeat up to 21 miles ish. I need to fit in more shorter runs (10k's etc) either side I guess? Can anyone share their marathon plans from here on in as a guide. Sorry for the needy message!

Hi all, Great to see so many fantastic times from Sunday!

I am back training after two weeks out with lurgi and playing catch up for my Brighton/London Marathon Combo in April! Started with a decent (for me) 10k last week and a very painful, but better HM today (it's hot out there and I think I have sunburn!). Died spectacularly in the last 5K, but feels good to get another long run under my belt. Thinking I treat Brighton as extra training and get round and look to London to get the sub 4h time i so badly want, sound like a plan?? Next long run will be next week i guess and thinking a slower paced 16 miles ish. Any advice welcome of course!

I can relate to that, I had exactly the same thing happen to me yesterday on a half marathon long run... but at least I know I can do the distance now. Good luck with the marathon training.

I've gotta be honest, it looks like you'll absolutely SMASH four hours! Obviously not going at your 10km pace, but easing off the 21km run just a tad will still put you way inside that. I'm not really sure you need much advice, apart from don't do what I did/do and go off like a rocket. It's a LONG way, so stick to your pace and don't panic if you slip back a bit. Looks like you'll have plenty in the tank to get the job done...

jimmygull certainly looks like you're well on track. I've had couple of weeks not feeling right/resting and second half of today's 10 miler was a bitch. Noisiest breathing I can remember. Good luck on the marathon days and stick to the plan once you have chosen which will be the A race.

A few 1km sprints for me today, getting right back into training for the marathon. Trying to get a bit of pace back and putting in some quicker paced runs on tired legs. Another 7 miler tomorrow down tempo. That will probably be a run home from Worthing in the evening to give me some time between sessions.

All about the marathon now!

I take it the times have to be official races etc.

Almost ashamed to say I haven't done a parkrun yet, and don't have a 5k time but have done some longer races.

Hi Knocky, struggling with many official times. But to start me off I have a 49.19 from the 2016 Worthing 10k and a 20:50 from a Hove Park, Park Run this year, if that will do to get me on the table? Cheers!

I've just watched the finish video from Sunday. My "bit" is hilarious:

SPRINT - JOG - WALK - STOP WATCH - WINCE

It does show that I beat a be-shirted Watford fan on gun time by about 2 seconds so not all bad.

Managed to get out this morning for a very ploddy 4 miles. DOMS all over the shop but no lasting hamstring damage. knocky1 the battle is truly on

Delighted to hit 100 miles for the month. First time since January 2018.

The more I run, the better my running gets. Odd, eh? [emoji23][emoji23]
