I'll be doing after [MENTION=24635]Greg Bobkin[/MENTION] in time. :thumbsup:

For sunday, though, I'll be targeting [MENTION=18183]big nuts[/MENTION]. In the meantime, are we reverting back to best two out of three? I shall try and get myself an equaliser on the board prior to the Arena 80c 10k. :thumbsup:

Also, to be clear - I am targeting taking a position or two in the 5k leaderboard as well. This is going to be a big weekend for me - or a disaster. :albion2:

So I experimented tonight - one shoe with ‘racing loops’, the other ‘standard’. To be honest it made so little difference I only remembered I’d done this when I took my shoes off again!
I reckon racing loops are the way to go though - bit like racing stripes on your Ford Escort definitely give you a psychological edge!

Racing loops, top of foot and big toe protectors should ensure some PBs for me, or I will fall arse over tit

Try doing the Steyning Stinger marathon in March. No amount of fancy lacing will stop your shoes being vacuumed from your feet by the mud [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Week 3 of my 7 week 5k training plan. The initial aches and pains from actually doing some running have settled and I'm beginning to settle into a routine.
Monday track intervals, Mid week 7 miles progressive and steady followed by a knackered Parkrun on Saturday.

Beyond my mental control the intervals are getting slower, Parkrun getting slower and the mid week run a mile longer and faster. This is to be expected and makes me realise I am not at peak performance from being lazy.
Jolly good fun so far!

If I did run it alone I’d be 5-10% of SB. A lot of NSC turning up at the Prom in May helped me get 30 seconds off my expected time.
More than anything it helps me relax more.

I tried the racing loops method last night. It definitely felt a bit more comfortable. As you say, it could be psychological but that's fine with me as long as it doesn't have detrimental effect! I'll persist with it and see how it goes.

A nice 4 miler for me at lunch today, my preparations are complete. Big effort at a parkrun on saturday and then Bright10. I'm looking at Hove Park for the parkrun effort this week, but I'll get over to Preston Park if I can. I've not run there in 2018 yet.

Took part in a inter company relay triathlon today but only helped out with the run which was a half marathon distance. We won it by 9 seconds, and I got close to 5 minute miling on the track (with long rest periods) which I was pretty chuffed about. Never really believed I would get this competitive at running when I was in my 20s smoking and drinking years.

Think I need to hit a park run in next 2 weeks to see if i can get a sub 18 with the benefit from all the HM training.

Never got much below 6, but didn’t start running until I was in my mid 30s. I did a few (road) 800m intervals earlier this week, fairly happy to hit exactly 3.10 for all three but should be faster.

I was disappointing around Hove Park this morning and ran a 19:54. I'm assuming the Russell Martin who came 13th is THE Russell Martin, but I didn't happen to see him. Tomorrow is the big one!

That probably is the Russel Martin as he fits the age bracket.With a mere 19:21, 67.18 % AG and PB today he is a useful guinea pig in our "can footballers run a fast 5K" debate. We'll give him some time to get into it though.

Had a nice run out on the prom this morning. Simply aiming at tempo 7 min mile pace with a faster last mile came in at 21:17. A massive 73 seconds faster than last week with the same effort. Only 6% to find now......

Good luck tomorrow, runners. Great to be back at Hove Park and dipping under 24 mins again. Took it fairly easy, so there is plenty more in the tank. Next target is sub-23 - not done that since April!

There's less than half a minute between our PBs but our preparation has been very different and I think we'll be running our own races rather than a straight head to head. We'll be meeting around 8 at the start finish line as we need to meet a mate who's marshalling. Obviously [MENTION=13055]Ninja Elephant[/MENTION] won't be there till the gun goes off but if any of you are getting there earlier we'll be milling around from fairly early on.

I’ll be there between 0815-08:30.

Conditions look good, sunny, 8 degrees and a cooling northerly cross wind.

Hopefully I’ve recovered well enough from Barns Green to clock a PB.
