38:38 was my Strava time for the Jigsaw Run 10k at Dunsfold Aerodrome today - so that is the sub-40 minute goal for 10k comfortably achieved!

I also believe I ran the first 5k in a sub-19 minute time, so that is a goal that is definitely achievable!

Hogs Back Road Race next weekend. Just for fun.

Wow, awesome....that is speedy

Gentle 6m for me this morning, first run outdoors for about 6 weeks. Not out of the woods with the tendinitis yet but it's improving. Being cautious with it.

Thrashed it! Well done. Knew it was imminent.

19 miles for me this week. Walking not running but after only 1 mile total walking over 2 months I am ecstatic. 4 miles of it was Dyke to Truleigh Hill return as well. Still swollen knees ,with a Baker's Cyst which is knew to me but improving daily.

A nice 10 mile for me today, start of my 16 week marathon training plan for Cyprus. 1 hour 36 minutes @ 9.39 a mile.

Aiming for under 4.30 this time round, so upping my training running pace from last time.

Anyone else doing the Brighton Santa run on the 10th December. My sister and her hubby signed up today so I will be doing the 5k with them. Looking forward to running in a Santa outfit!

Have the Bath Half in March and went out yesterday and did just over 6 miles. Trying to focus on miles under belt but so competitive with myself I can't help but care about the time.

anyway very satisfied and felt fine after. 6.14 miles in 50:21

Bloody Worthing!
Getting the distinct impression that many are beginning to focus & prepare for their targets for 2017 - or certainly some in Spring. Anyone want to share - at the risk of setting yourself up (don't worry as we've all been there).
One for me is the Worthing half in sub 1.45.

The only thing I have lined up for next year is the Surrey Half. The goal is a sub 1 hour 30 gun time, as that seems more of a challenge than knocking off those last six seconds from my pb!

Get back to proper injury-free training, marathon PB attempt before I'm too old (Seville in Feb or Brighton in April), before building up to a sub 24 hour 100 mile attempt in October (using the NDW50 as a training run in May). Some or all of the above bound not to happen!

Is that the Centurion Ridgeway and Thames Path? Good luck.

I'll just think of getting back running. Like to do Hasting's Half for fun. Pencilled in Three Forts with a semi plan of knocking 30" of this year's 5 hours 12".

Will have a crack at sub 43 again at the Phoenix 10k and probably f*** myself up again failing to go sub 20 at 5k.

Looking forward to a couple of NSC relay teams at the Weakest Link Relay. That's something I can win!

I think, for all of us, that pencil rather than ink is sensible at this stage!

Had a very slow parkrun at Preston Park on Saturday followed by 10 miles up and down the riverbank.

Mince Pie target will be hit - not sure about getting anywhere near 21.18 parkrun time though.

Next year targets? Who knows. Just to have fun. I think the longer the race, the less fussed I am about the time. Still want sub-20 5k but apart from that, it's all about enjoying the race, for me.

2016 was personally a brilliant year for me.

My biggest aim was under 5 hours for a marathon and gone from 5.14 to 4.41. This year I want under 4.30. Doing Limassol 19th March and Brighton 9th April
Aim number 2 was under 2 hours in a HM, gone from 2.12.34 to 1.58.11. Not set a new target yet, could try for 1.55! Doing Brighton 26th Feb
Aim 3 was under 50 mins for a 10k, dropped from 55.10 to 52.10 in the Phoenix 10k, aim is again under 50 minutes
Did a 10 mile for the first time and wanted under 1 hour 30 and got 1.27.48. Entered the GSR again as got a discount, so that is 22 October 2017

My other aim was to run over 700 miles for 2016, currently at 691. Next year I want to up that to 1,000 miles!

I need targets or get lazy.

Brilliant. Looks like you are on the shortlist for most improved NSC runner of the year.

At the risk of setting myself up next year my two planned races are;

The Grand Union Canal Race. May
Self Transcendence 24 Hour Race. Sept (if I get in, I have my eye on other options in reserve if I don't)

Your third eye, I suspect. What is the 24 hour race next year?
