You seem like a proper runner to me! Well done. Your Dublin experience mirrors almost exactly my two marathons.
The 1000 miles in a year target seems to be quite a popular one; it's never occurred to me to log miles over a year, but I guess the technology now makes it easy to do so (if not easy to actually run them!). Looking back on my 30+years running I suspect I've never clocked a thousand in any year. Perhaps that's why I've managed 30+ years!
El Pres certainly achieved many running goals in 2016 and would be well up for the NSC SPOTY if it wasn't for his filthy mind.
Just checked my Strava and as a lazy runner have found that I ran about 680 miles this year. My Highest annual total just beating last year and over double any other year. May have to have a go at this 1,000 next year.
What has brought the year to a halt is over emphasis on speed intervals and racing flat out rather than LSD (long slow distance), recovery, warm up, 2" off pace, etc.
