Went out yesterday morning in perfect conditions. I wanted to run at a decent pace after struggling Monday with my long run.

4 miles in 26:34 so feel a bit happier about Sunday as it didn't feel like I was pushing too hard, and that's roughly going to be my HM pace Sunday.

A short 2 miles Saturday and then onto the big day.

If you are size 8.5 to 9 come and get the bike and shoes. The uplift is massive.
My split times have disappeared on the inter web but It was a 2:38:14 at Windsor as an over 50. The 10k was probably around 44:00 not likely today after the biking and swimming or even without biking or swimming.
Just get out on the bike every day for 2 weeks before tapering and you'll be there. Avoid the BOSTAL:eek:

Short in the leg and small of the foot (7.5), I should be a protected minority having to compete with the big boys! Your tri time looks very respectable to me: our relay team did around 2:15ish but we had a cyclist who did his 40K in an hour. I managed a 42:09 10K which was a real surprise as I was on the cusp of 60 and coming back from injury. I put it down to the motivation of not wanting to let the team down, but a little voice in my head still tells me that the course might have been under-measured. However, a 'win' (although of course several individuals beat us!) and I'd thoroughly recommend the team relay format.........as long as you can find a good cyclist, aged around 29, with a very expensive bike. (Our swimmer was 63.)
Thanks again for the offer and advice. I need no encouragement to avoid the Bostal but I will be out on the bike clocking up some miles.

I think 17 mph is about my ceiling to be honest with current kit and leg muscles. Did a pathetic little time trial today and barely scraped 15mph. My brother-in-law was a couch potato until early his 60s and became a cycling nut. Did the Olympic 100 (miles not kms) last year and averaged 23mph. *******!

How's your ITB? I remember how much of a sod it can be.

Certainly is a sod. I had it once 4 years back during marathon training plan, had it massaged out and never had it again due to regular stretching. Popped up again this week. Easy to see why as I ran 170 miles in 4 weeks with hills. More than I had run in 6 months on the flat. Think I have fixed it and managed 8 miles today. Planning on a 20 miler on Sunday before you do the half marathon. It may go again but then Jesus will painfully sort it with his elbow digging into my hip and back. A step back this week has been enjoyed digging our allotment, another recipe for disasters but essential to keep Mrs Knocky1 sweet.

Not doing the half but yes, was a decent run and all good training for the marathons. Bobkin jnr has football training at KA so I took the opportunity to run - didn't realise I was so close to Big Nuts Towers[emoji38]

I'm in for the half Sunday, looking forward to it with the pressure off now as hit my sub 1:30 target two weeks ago in Worthing. Would love to go faster but we will have to wait and see. I've set myself a new goal to average 6:40 per mile which is 9 MPH.

I'm claiming second place, then 😉

I'm not too fussed about not doing it. Worthing was good, and I'd rather save the money for a different race (or two, at that price!).

As it happens, both Juniors are playing at Wish Park at 12, so quite happy to have a leisurely morning and head in when it's all died down a bit.

I am. Less than ideal preparation. Rushed, last minute work trip to Peterboro for two days with lots of work (sitting down), lots of tasty but calorific crap food in their canteen and thirty five of the most boring minutes imaginable doing an easy run on the hotel dreadmill. Then, this morning I ended up having to take training at football. The health app on the phone has clocked up 8.28 k between walking there and back, jogging with the boys and playing makeshift centre back while three of them had a meltdown.

What are the chances I'll get to lie on the sofa until bed time?

Thanks mate!! Target time is anything under 1.50. Looking at the weather it's almost perfect but I'll need to find a big lad to draft behind for the first mile northwards (not [MENTION=18183]big nuts[/MENTION] though who will already be halfway to Ovingdean). After that try to hit 8"00 to 8"15 and see if there's anything decent to chase and anything left in the tank at the end,

Ran the Kings Lynn park run this morning. 16 sec quicker than last week and 4 sec off a PB now. Controlled my pace better and overtook 4 people on the last loop to finish 6th in a time of 18.30. Weather was cold but little wind. My son and wife ran well with James recording a huge PB. Such a great start to a Saturday

Good running. Your 75.50% Age Grading overtakes my 75.39% and puts you in second place behind [MENTION=635]Gary Nelson[/MENTION]'s Teacher in the AG NSC Premier League. I will be trying to climb that League once this winter training plan is over.

Good luck everyone in the HM tomorrow. Just cycled along the sea front past the start and finish- quite a set up of tents down there.
