Plus you tend to run further on a track as is hard to keep on the inside in a bunch of runners.
I can see one of the reasons why you like cricket. Same with me. Stats.
Anorak x2.

Here we go Gaffer. A pretty mediocre 12.52 for me (that's 3K BTW not the 5K) @ 74.11% AG. Set my pace for 12.30 but being buffeted by cross winds didn't help. Many thanks.

Here you are. Won't be joining the table for a while. That mile did me in more than the 105 slow miles in 2 weeks before. Absolutely fine now but the bloody mojo has gone awol again.

Think I'll add the mile table for statistical purposes. May incorporate it. Can see, for example, that you and I slow with AG distance and big nuts gets better.

Sorry to hear about the mojo AWOLness. I've lost all interest (not that I ever had much TBH) in any longer distances, even in training.
i'm the opposite. I've got my mojo back, love getting prepared for a run, new running shoes, a few stretches, then i'm off ………..….. and within a few minutes my head takes over - i'm tired, something hurts, i'm never gonna be any good at this, why does that bloke look so comfortable running?, I can feel my dodgy ankle, i'm knackered, am I going down with something? I struggle home, exhausted, no energy for warm down stretches. That's it, today's run is out of the way. I loved it.

Just got back out with a slow 10 miles up and over some Brighton valleys. My breathing is still not right with continual sputum being produced, so I sat back and ran carefully. On the last mile I put in a few strides and found 6:10 mile pace relatively easy for 100m bursts. Most weird this stomach/lung crap. Not going to do much near tempo or faster till it's cleared I up.
I've been on hayfever tabs for 2 months it might have been them and as Spring is sprung I'll give them up from now. They certainly did the trick this year regarding hayfever giving me my best April since it started 8 years ago but may have side effects. Loratadine.
Might be worth checking out those side-effects. Sounds nasty. I'm taking a few days out to give the knee a rest. Will be on the rower.
After an injury-enforced lay-off since mid-January I've managed 5k ever other day since last Friday. The first 2.5k always feels like hell - just getting going and trying to find a rhythm. I feel slow, heavy and it's a real slog. But then the second 2.5k is absolutely fine and I feel like I could happily go further. I'm always way faster in the second 2.5k. Not sure if this is psychological or just a question of getting some basic conditioning back?
Happy to be back, but when I see big nuts 5k time [] I realise just how far I still have to go!
Stormed to a new notparkrun best of 21:10 (AG 72.0%) this morning. Really helped that I met a friend to run with (2m apart) - shows how much harder you push yourself even with minimum of competition. I think I could go sub21 with a full parkrun crowd to run against.
In other news bought some new shoes from Kurt at Run - fantastic service again. Tweeted him about 6pm last night saying no hurry- he is delivering them today!
Second attempt at the mile bought my time down to 6:03. Differing times between Garmin and Strava so I’ll let the gaffer decide but either way I took at least 13 seconds off my first attempt and got my AG in the 70’s. I thought I’d be satisfied with that but now being so close to sub 6 I’m going to have to go again.
Two new very impressive editions to be made to the current table.
We need a few more on the table. Those who are chicken, give it a go, if not happy delete it before synching to Strava. Nobody need ever know. Come on join in.
Great running. I may beg you to be my parallel pacer on June 20th for a 5k full out effort.
That's more like it, I begrudgingly say. VAR can only give 6:03 but the TV punters would be shouting for 6:02 but following the graph line it just jumps from 6:00 to 6:03. Best I can do is 6:025.
It's open to appeal if you send a SAE to @GNT. I need your age for AG.
Thanks gaffer. After last weeks attempt I felt every day of my 52 years but today was far better. I may need to do some specific speed work training to achieve similar improvements before next time.
I won’t trouble GNT over today but I’m still unhappy with my Burgess Hill 10k time in 1989. I just need his address.
