My thoughts entirely. And although Derby were superb yesterday, we were out played tactically by McLaren who you may remember got Middlesborough relegated and had a disastrous spell as England manager as well. I particularly remember our 3- 0 win against Charlton when we seemed to send out a team of ten individuals playing for themselves rather than as a team. I think OG has done the decent thing and fallen on his sword, so to speak, rather than struggle on tactically bereft.

He also got Middlesboro to a UEFA cup final. Remember that?

Oh and won the Dutch league.

But carry on thinking McClaren's a mug if you like. You are clearly wrong.

McClaren is a brilliant coach and a very good Manager he was offered the England job way too early great club Manager though and learnt from the best teacher Ferguson !

I have no idea who he is?! I was just thinking we need more physicality and strength in the team instead of players with hamstrings made of jelly or the tackling ability of my 7 year old. Fitter and more consistent versions of Rohan Ince and younger versions of Matt Upson are what I mean.

Dig out the thread on him on here. There's a link to a youtube vid - I have a feeling you might like what you see. I have no idea whether there's any truth in the rumour that we're in for him, but I hope there is!

All the best to OG for the future.

Incredible that we made the playoffs, that says more about the lack of quality in the Championship (other than the final top 5) this season.

In my opinion, but no doubt many will disagree, squad quality has dipped massively from say 18 months previous, with no Bridge, ElAbd, Barnes, Vicente and Bridcutt. Orlandi, Bruno and Buckley, all class, are forever injured or half-fit. The previously excellent Lopez has reached the end of his career at this level. Ulloa, adored by the majority, is so slow, easily beaten in battles with any centre-half and gets officials backs up by his constant whining.

OG certainly did not have the tools at his disposal compared to the pushy Poyet who got much of what he demanded, so I don't blame OG for moving on at all.

I'm hoping TB sees these major hurdles need addressing starting today. It's far bigger an issue than simply recruiting another coach to work with whatever TB and Burke give him.

Malkey, Sherwood, or Giggs/Scholes - and we will walk this division next season.

OG did well - but f00k me, i fell asleep - he deserves another chance, but if he has a latin ego too - feck him.

Sums it up.

This is a question of FIT squad quality and pace (a lack of both).

If the general consensus is that lack of squad investment was behind this, and that we will do whatever it takes to save money and come in under FFP, we mustn't forget that the manager's wages will be subject to the same tight squeeze.

Hands up who had money on Oscar this time last year? I reckon it'll be another 'unknown' who will be grateful for the opportunity and the exposure, and who won't expect or demand a high wage. As a result, I'd be surprised if any of the 'favourites' actually get appointed.

In other news, a thank you to Oscar from me for getting rid of our ability to sing that godawful non-rhyming sangria song. Fingers crossed the next manager prompts a few limerick writers to get involved in the songwriting rather than a few cobblers.

Onwards and upwards. In FFP we trust; the FA may be a different matter. Come on, Wigan!

 I'm gutted he has gone. It always worried me that he bought none of the Spanish youngsters or any players he knew of to the Club. Look at Gus and Bridders couldn't wait to follow him north. You would think there would be at least one or two players that would follow Oscar anywhere, or he would have in mind at least one player he could get his hands on to built his team around. I don't think B&HA or anybody working for the Club had anything to do with this. Maybe a reason will become apparent in time, but I'm not holding my breath. Spoilt my summer, or until another flair Manager/ Coach is appointed.

I have a massive new respect for Oscar. How many managers offer their resignation after a bad defeat ? Not very many I would say. Did not say I was a big fan but respect to him. Went up a lot is my estimation as he could have held out and been an Arse. He did not, he made it quick and clean. A lot to be said for this.

Brighton factually.....
If we are to believe the report he had made his decision a few weeks ago and the board knew his feelings.....

Then it can't be the budget can it ? We could have gone up and that would obviously mean a larger budget.

It also can't be falling out with Tony or Paul as he has been very complementary to them both especially Paul Barber in the letter.

It only leaves Burke surely or he has something else lined up.

Burke was the only senior one he failed to comment on....still he didnt he say anything about Jones either..but then i guess if he had then he would have to comment on all the other bods in the dugout

You convinced me from your earlier post that you may have a bit of an inside track. Is end of the week reliable info or a punt?

Punt. No inside track: just who I meet on the street :p
If they have someone lined up though, as has been claimed by a Danish fellow in a cafe, then it shouldn't be long.
