Noticed The Pond had a Verdant takeover so popped in for a couple of lovely IPA and DIPA.

Then went to White Rabbit but was a bit let down by the Wild Beer selection, nothing that special really.

Kona was a surprise

Same here. There’s a few I’d not heard of but i knew about Goose Island and Blue Moon. It’s odd that the big brewers want a slice of this pie as there is no way craft heads will drink their beers. I guess it’s more aimed at selling new “cool” brands to the general public? All those estate agents with Top Shop hipster outfits, beards and tattoos need a drink to finish off their look I guess?

I think that is it. I see Goose Island advertised a lot in high street pubs as Craft Beer and usually on offer, so I imagine that is the angle they are going for. Plenty of breweries there to satisfy us real craft beer wankers rather than the JCLs ;-)

Speaking of which got a case of Cloudwater waiting for me at home. Also the Brookstead open a craft beer & wine off license across the road this week which will be getting a large amount of my pennies every month i think

The few % market share seems to have rattled the bigger brewers hugely. Heineken knock out some awful ales with rip-off branding from established craft producers here and C&C (Tennants, Magners etc) produce fake "local" branding for their own piss-poor ale and generic lager to try get the buy-local market. "Cute Hoor", "Pana Cork Lager" etc etc.

Not to mention Diageo cloning all the bigger successes of the craft breweries here too, but at least they actually use different packaging/design and put the word Guinness on them. Rye IPA which is cloned off Kinnegar, Citra IPA cloned off Yellowbelly and Chocolate Milk Stout cloned off Galway Bay; all would be hard to tell apart.

Very much this. It’s difficult for these fake craft beers to even nudge my needle as it has zero impact on my world as there’s just so much other stuff out there, new stuff and no doubt there’s plenty more to come.

Good work, what time should I pop round tonight?

Just heard that Brighton’s and NSC’s very own Lost and Found are having a tap-takeover at Berlin’s Hopfenreich this Saturday. Great to see you on the International scene!

I’m trying to remember which poster is behind L+F?

Also beware the imposter, Belhaven, that lovely old Scottish brewery, now owned by greene king.

Maybe an exchange visit as I see Stone from Berlin are having TTO at Brighton Beer Dispensary in July.
