Charlton still have to play Bolton so both cannot get 64 points, if both teams lose on Saturday one of them cannot catch us just don't know which one.

Its just a case of every game left to play you get 3 points, except for Brighton who remain on same points. I can assure you we will not finish bottom but at the moment if every team get 3 points for the remaining games we will be bottom. We can be safe after Monday nights game if we win and Bolton, Charlton and Rotherham all fail to win.

The trouble is that this year a 'team that can't catch us' could still make the playoffs along side us ( and knock us out :nono: )

"Could" - theoretically. But won't, at least not until the last two or three games when the jostling for play-off places (if indeed that is relevant to us) is decided. The first three candidates for the 'can't catch us' stakes (Charlton, Bolton and Rotherham) can catch us at the moment - but if they do, we won't be in the play-offs anyway.

As mentioned above, Charlton have to play Bolton, so they can't both finish on 61 points. We won't be walking away with the wooden spoon!

Oh for PETE'S sake

It's a traditional NSC league table whereby we start from the bottom of the table and highlight teams that MATHEMATICALLY can't catch us between now and the end of the season. Or in the case of the Hyypia season, teams that WE can't mathematically catch. It starts round about now, it gets updated after every game, and can get quite exciting/interesting/scary...
Indeed. Mind you it wouldn't be the same without some killjoy pointing out something along the lines of "Well they can't all get that number of points so it's a bit stupid isn't?" Each club potentially CAN get that number of points. Like the annual St Georges Day binfest (due any time now) this is a classic NSC thread. (I was going to start it in September but thought it might be a tad premature)

No?
The most they can get is 61pts so neither can catch us
Whoops - sorry! I was doing my calculations on us having 60 points. I blame the BBC for not updating their league tables quickly enough (I'll try that excuse, anyway, and see how it does..............)

We are safe.

Rotherham would have to beat MKDons, and if they do MKDons would need to beat both Bristol City and Fulham.

And Bristol City still have to play Fulham, and both can't win that match.

All these matches still to be played.

100% proven that we are SAFE.

We have 64 points. MK Dons can swallow a loss to Rotherham so they both finish on 65 points. Bristol and Fulham can both drop points against each other, giving whichever one loses the room to drop three points more, and stay up on goal difference.

Can they ???

Haven't they already dropped 6 points to MKD, and Rotherham in the proposed set of results, and both need a win to then reach 64, which cannot happen ? ???

Rotherham win everything - 65 points
MKD win all except v Rotherham - 65 points.

Then Fulham and Bristol City can each only get 64 points ( beaten by both MKD and Rotherham) but they play each other, so 1 must finish on less than 64 ?

We must be safe ? ???

Yes.

Haven't they already dropped 6 points to MKD, and Rotherham in the proposed set of results, and both need a win to then reach 64, which cannot happen ? ???

They each dropped three points, one dropped them to rotherham, one dropped them to MKD

Rotherham win everything - 65 points
MKD win all except v Rotherham - 65 points.

Then Fulham and Bristol City can each only get 64 points, but they play each other, so 1 must finish on less than 64 ?

Fulham still to play: Bristol, MK Dons
Bristol still to play: Fulham, Rotherham
MK Dons still to play: Fulham, Rotherham
Rotherham still to play: Bristol, MK Dons

Fulham (Max finish 70), Bristol (70), MK Dons (68) Rotherham (65)

Rotherham have to win everything to get 65 points (more than our 64), this gives us:

Fulham (70), Bristol (67) MK Dons (65)

MK Dons have to win everything else to get 65 points (more than our 64) leaving us

Fulham (67) Bristol (67)

A draw leaves Fulham and Bristol both on 65. If one wins the other is left on 64 (enough to finish above us on GD)

Troublesome, for sure.

Do we have a list of all teams that have been relegated with 65 points or more?

65 may be safe, but we're on 64. I'm already looking at train tickets to Scunthorpe.
