a few years ago i was in milan and went to watch a milan-chievo game, i was with a mate (celtic fan), we werent wearing colours or anything but decided to go and stand by the ultras to get a proper piece of the atmosphere.

at half time i was approached by one of there top blokes asking who the f*** i was and if i was liverpool? slightly nervous i replied no, he then said the usual arsenal chelsea man u etc. when i said no to all these he said well who then, when i told him swindon, he kept a straight face and paused then said "are you in the dr martens league?" cheeky git.

Theer's a guy here from Lewes who is a casaua Albion supporter who relies on updates from me. Other than that its empty here... but I'm working on my future brother in law and my daughter knows her daddy's team are the seagulls and we wear blue and white stripes.

I've said a dozen times and I'll say it again... how much more would it cost that instead of just 1. 5 minute highlights, people abraod could download the whole game for a small fee every week. The number of people I could convert with that!!! Even better, how about a live stream. To get the highlight obviously there is a live recording out there somewhere.

Chechen Itza, Mexico - bloke gave a poor account of himself as an Albion fan but then he could have Man Ure! Apparantley he has a brother who lives Brighton! Thats Mexicans for you................

HCQ

Actually that reminds me of a crazy bloke who ran a hostel in Peru I stayed in for about a week. He was English, but his wife was Peruvian and he'd lived there for years. I think he said he was from somewhere around Sussex, and he professed to some kind of vague following of the team. However, he did also think Bobby Zamora (who was still with us at the time) was Chilean so perhaps not the most devout fan!

Also have just remembered bumping into a bloke from Burgess Hill who supported the Albion who lived and ran a bar in Rhodes.

Was waiting at a remote station to go to the WACA in Perth to watch the Ashes game wearing 'SKINT' shirt and the only other person there came up to me chanting 'SEAGULLS!....' he was from Whitehawk!

I didn't realise they still used the place as a penal colony

Not so much the where - Tenerife at Easter

But the who. Saw a boy in the stripes with older brother and mum getting onto a coach to the airport, commented that the Colchester result was a relief and got chatting

Was confused when the boys said they lived in the midlands somewhere and that they were only recent supporters but that they were going to Huddersfiled away and Stockport on the last day.

Asked how they came to be fans and they said, "My dad's the manager." All hail Russell's ex wife and kids.

In a pile of football shirts
Back in 1985 I was living in Carterton in Oxfordshire and working in a factory on nightshifts. After the Friday shift we normally ended up together in the pub at lunchtime and I got talking to some guys from the other shifts, about football, and that I was going to the Oxford v Brighton game. Turns out one of the guys on the other shift, plus his dad, were avid Brighton fans and regularly went to see them at away games when in the midlands area. Of course, this was the year that Oxford went up as champions into the top flight. Also I remember arguing with the rozzers after the game as they forced us to walk all the way to the station from the ground after the game, and any of you who know, the Manor ground was miles from the station. The trouble was, our car was parked just round the corner from the ground. We lost, 2-1.

Are you joking?

Not at all mate..... friend of mine form Poland last week was telling me he wanted a small British team to support (i..e outside the premiership)..... lots of people all over the world like the novelty of supporting ( and I mean getting REALLY involved) in teams that most of their friends have never heard of.

Look at the whole Ebbsfleet thang.

Queuing at the hotel bar in Lanzarote a few years ago, I noticed the bloke next to me was wearing a pair of Albion shorts. I then realised the owner of the shorts was none other than Gary Hart, who happened to be staying at the same complex as us (with his young daughter and rather fetching wife). This would have been summer 2001, so we'd just won the 4th division.

Naturally I exposed myself to him as an Albion fan and struck up a bit of conversation. Very pleasant chap, and we had a few chats during the course of our holiday. Doesn't really count on this thread though I suppose, being as OGH isn't an Albion fan as such.
