Many years ago, probably the late Sixties I went to Watford v Grimsby with a friend and his Dad, who was a Grimsby supporter. It was either a Third or Fourth Division game, but at half time a gang of kids came on the pitch and had a kick about in one of the goals. I've never seen it before or since at a league ground. A lot of the home support also changed ends at halftime, walking round to the end Watford were kicking into. I also saw that at Aldershot, I think, although I can't be sure it was there.

I think changing ends at half time was de rigueur for youngsters at the Goldstone late sixties, early seventies, or so my Brighton born mate tells me

Dale Jasper (?) shot knocking an old style Bobby’s hat off his head

I remember Lawrenson colliding with a copper at the Goldstone, knocking his helmet off, then putting it on and running back on the pitch. I like to think the ref booked him for it, but, I think he just got the proverbial talking to.

I don't remember it at the Goldstone, but, I could well be wrong.

Not that odd but does anyone remember, sometime in the early 90s I think, the ball being smashed into the North stand at the Goldstone, hitting the angle of the terrace and rebounding straight into the ceiling smashing one of the lights? I'm sure I didn't imagine it and I seem to remember a little exclusion zone for the rest of the game under what remained of the precarious hanging shards of the light.

Frank Worthington seconds before kick off , combing his hair !

A Brighton fan on the back of a police horse after a game v Oxford in hove park !

The Blackpool fan tied up in his own shoelaces and Tangerine Blackpool flag in the bogs at the back of the Northstand !

At a away game v Carlisle the bloke walking round selling programs starting a proper fist fight with a steward !

The weirdo Brighton bloke in the east stand after the Doncaster last game at the goldstone stark bollock naked !

i could go on but there have been many many times you just have to say WTF !

Leicester away, League Cup Filbert Street, I think 1994......amazing game, Munday wonder curling strike, anyone there that night saw something VERY special.

Anyway, just before the game, Filbert the Fox mascot wandered around the ground. High fived a few Albion fans, was then beckoned over by a (drunk) Albion fan.....Mascot thought he wanted a High 5, but what he got was a punch in the face!! Not big, not clever but was very funny at the time, and even now thinking back.

A long time ago on the darkest recesses of my mind I can remember a Brighton player striking a ball which travelled over the goal line into the back of the net.

That's not odd, that's unbelievable...

Still happens at pretty much every non-league match. Fans stay behind the opposition goal.

Had a Geordie girlfriend who was a huge football fan. Many years ago we went to a game at St James's Park against Arsenal, but my main memory is two stag dos at the game one group dressed as Snow White and Seven Dwarves, the other group as smurfs. They encountered each other after the game, very drunk, and had an incredible and very competitive dance-off outside the ground...I'm sure if mobile phones had existed in those days it'd be one of things that goes viral.

Yes, I remember that! It was and still very funny. That was the game Munday scored a worldy? Peter Smith running down the wing not easily forgotten.

Gillingham away after our tenure and seeing a fat teenager giving the Albion fans abuse.

To then out of no where, “young Rik Waller, your just a young Rik Waller”

He’s getting held back by his dad, who he then decides to punch

Someone shagging some girl at the back of the coach on the way back from Forest (79 I think) and everyone cheering.

At the final whistle of the last match at the Goldstone folk were streaming onto the pitch from the West Stand. As it became my turn to climb over the hoardings a little girl, who was standing with her father at the front and was probably no older than ten, looked at me and cautioned "Mr Knight has said that you are not to go on to the pitch"

I was totally bewildered and really didn't know how to respond. I ignored her and climbed over but not without hesitant thoughts that I shouldn't be doing something so naughty.

It was also the game where Jimmy Case got sent off for being deaf - a strange game all round.

As to oddest sights: there was the match against Bristol Rovers about 30 years ago on what appeared to be a boating lake. And about 20 years before that I remember the Chesterfield goalie putting the ball down for what he thought was a free kick and Kit Napier tapping it in for a legitimate goal. That was genuinely funny (I wasn't at the game when Sneaky George did something similar).

Yes, what a night that was. I have a vague memory that it may have been Peter Smith's finest game in an Albion shirt. And the mascot thing was very funny and still is despite what the snowflakes might say...

Did that these days and you will be besmirched for life , have your photo in the Arsegus resulting in your employer giving you the sack , you end up on the streets begging regular normal law abiding people for £6 for a Latte .
