My partner says that my odd habit is counting the number of stairs on a staircase.
Do you count the same flight of stairs (like the ones in the house) over and over again - or just the once? What happens if there is a different number from the time before?

I was once asked 'how many stairs in your staircase at home' and I immediately answered '13, plus the one on the turn'. I was right - but I had no recollection of ever actually counting them.

When I’m cooking our evening meal, I can’t eat mine until all the washing up of pots, pans etc. is done and everything put away.
Oh God 100% this. I wash up as I go along as far as I can and load everything possible in the dishwasher before serving. I can’t STAND dirty clutter in the kitchen.

Mrs D on the other hand leaves the kitchen looking like an army catering station that has been interrupted by the outbreak of WW3 when she does beans on toast. 🤬

Ditto.

And baking of cakes by anyone other than me leaves a trail of destruction, every conceivable utensil used, drying splatters of mix on the worktop  .

Every time I start walking I start counting my steps. Because I recognize this as a certain trait, I force myself to stop. I have lots of these traits....I can control my own....

I hate it when the missus fills the kitchen sink with hot water then piles in the washing up to soak. Then leaves it. Overnight. When we were first together we had a dish washer. But it was used as a storage unit for dirty dishes, and I'd end up having to look in there to find something to have my breakfast in.

When I refitted the kitchen, no bloody dish washer. And generally things are not left in the sink. Overnight. Any more.

Have I made myself clear? ???

She's wrong of course; that's not odd.

Is it?

Edit: FFS. She now says that refusing to set my alarm clock to go off at a time where the minutes end in either 0 or 5 is odd. So, 06:33 is ok, 06:35 or 06:30 is not.

Wrong again, of course.
You are my brother and I claim my £5!! He says he'll pick me up at 10.28 or whatever! Drives me loopy, pick me up at 10.25 or 10.30, he's always there bang on time whatever time he says, so round it up to a 0 or 5!! At least I now know he's not the only person that does it! :lolol:

Chopping cucumber for fajitas or tacos has to be 9 or 12 thick slices, (approx 5mm), to further chop in batches of 3 or 4. I couldn't cut 10 or 11 slices. That has meant on occasion bits of cucumber being thrown away if I can't get 12 slices out of it! :(

I’d say putting cucumber in tacos applies on its own! That’s mental that is

Years ago I watched a space shuttle documentary and was intrigued by the "de-orbit burn". Engines fired at a precise time for a precise length of time. Now, as one example, I find myself counting the time the tap is on to fill the kettle, 4 seconds for each cupful required. O6ther stuff, like fast forward on the DVR at x32 is 8 seconds "burn" to skip 4 mins of adverts.

Volume controls must be set to an increment of 5
