We already have one.

It's called the Patron Subscription.

Filling fuel always try to get a round number. £20. £30. £40. £50 etc ...

I know it comes from the old days when I'd have a fiver or tenner cash in my pocket for fuel. But I seriously cannot remember when the last time I paid for fuel in cash rather than a card or Androidpay nowadays. A decade at least I would guess.

Plus fuel is so much more expensive that it's easy to 'miss' rather than 'hit'.

So I really doesn't matter if it's £30.02 but it's bloody annoying. I've even been known to try for £35 instead of leaving it at some annoying non-round number.

OK. So, I could list dozens of this shit....

Petrol stations. On match day I won't look at the cost until the filling cuts off. Then the £ and pence will tell me what the score will be. Brighton are always the £. Obviously the score won't be 37-15. So I add the integers. That example would end up as a 10-6 win, except it would actually be a 1-6 defeat.

This is a shit system so I don't really take much notice of it any more. But I still fill up in one go (no topping up) without looking at the charge dial.

Oh, and I count the approximate seconds it takes to fill up. No particular reason for that. I just do.

(Those with long memories and who used the old Mailing List may recall "magic (lucky) darts", where I would predict the Albion match score from bulls (2 goals) and semi bulls (1 goal) using 3 darts, using my right hand for the home team. I would do the whole season, record the scores, then check them after every game. It wasn't a very good predictive system, but it was quite fun).

I could go on..... but I'm a busy man and have things to count. Sorry, I mean things to do.

I used fill up the tank to exact multiples of 4.55, being litres to gallon. So aiming for say 45.5 litres for example.

It wasn’t a last stand for Imperial.

Instead just a mind game, as I find standing there tedious.

I was trying to stay out of this thread but you have drawn me in. You would hate me and fuel as I always try something with symmetry. For example, I will aim for £35.35, if I miss by 1p then £35.36 would be okay but if I miss by more then my next target is £35.53.

Width wise there were 23 at 200mm with with a 50mm cut piece next to one wall, so the overall width was 4.65m. It was at that point that Mr Patel called me in so the length will have to wait until my next visit on 25th Nov.

I did the same for the ceiling when I was having my last two MRI scans, waiting to be moved into the magnet. Very intricate pattern.

The trick is not to count all the lines or squares. I counted 100 lines, then eyeballed how much space that occupied. Then I scaled up to approximate blocks of 100 by 100. I had to make many adjustments for odd shapes cut around equipment and lights. But I got there!

I can't remember the number now, but that isn't the point. It was much larger than expected, though.

Which reminds me about.....perhaps another time.

I have a supply of 10 different liqueurs lined up which I drink after my Sunday roast. To choose which one to have I check the time, so 1.35 will take no 9, or 1.36 will be no 1. Saves me having to make a decision.
As for counting, I count the number of tiles on the bathroom floor every morning when sitting on the loo. Funnily enough the answer is always the same.

If doing anything chore-like (washing, cooking, unpacking shopping, showering etc) I need sound. Sometimes musically but usually a podcast or YouTube video playing in the background.

I also need the same when going to sleep.
I’m exactly the same. Especially hanging out laundry and changing bed sheets. Gotta have something to listen to.

Not many but I am a bit of a neat freak.

But that also applies to drawers and cupboards, under the bed, wardrobes , loft space etc.

If I know there is disorder or mess tucked away under the surface, it drives me to distraction. I can’t function.


Everything has to be in order and in its place.

I don’t expect others to have my strict standards. I’ll do it myself without bothering anyone else with it.

My other habit is that everything that is used regularly has to be easily accessible. I can’t stand moving that to get to this and shifting that on top of those to get to the other thing. Argghhhh!!!


I have a “messy room” with bits and bobs I don’t use that often. Also coats, freezer, bikes and wellies etc.
It’s not a mess but I’m not as fastidious with that part of the house.

Comes from a few places in my past I think.

Having parents who let the house go to shit often. Clothes stuffed in with crap at the backs of wardrobes. Things stuffed under beds. Piles of letters and papers and junk on every surface. Ugh.

And 6 years at military boarding school drums some habits into a lad.

More recently I had a girlfriend I lived with. She wasn’t messy but her household maintenance and upkeep was a shambles.

No system in place for regular cleaning. Just whenever she got round to it. I had to do pretty much everything in order to keep it up to scratch.

The worst was the “ad-hoc mega clean”

I’d be chilling on the couch. Place is tidy and clean. All in order.

She would maybe spot a spec of dust on the lounge blinds.

Fast forward half an hour, all the blinds in the house are on the floor or soaking in the bath, couches are pulled away from the walls, cushion covers off and in the washer, rugs out on the lien, half the furniture out on the balcony.

I’d have to help and put it all back. And then she wouldn’t so much as look at a duster or sponge for the next year. As I got on with regularly cleaning the place each week in a sane and sustainable way.

I learnt to get up and get of the house quickly on her days off and not come back til the street lights came on.

We went our separate ways some years ago now. I think we are both happier 🤣

I tend to push things away from the edges of things.
If anyone puts anything down on a surface, I tend to push it further in, away from the edge.
When I am driving along in 5th gear, I push on the clutch, take it out of gear and put it in again.

The car has digital temperatures for driver and passenger. These HAVE to be the same and an even number.

what sicko wants the temperature to be 19.5 degrees anyway??

I sometimes try to get home in 24 breathes. holding my breath for as long as possible before I pass out - I know this cant be safe and I get hot and flustered trying.
When I do this I set the temperature to 16 degrees (both sides). to be fair its a bit cold but 18 is too warm and there are no other options.

Ok, have it your way @jcdenton08. I have an odd habit of putting cucumber in my taco's. 😀

I'm not sure why it's odd if tomatoes are acceptable though? Is it odd putting them in fajitas as well? 🤔 Anyway the word has spread & there are at least 10 people in Brighton who put cucumber in their Old El Paso tacos now. Vive la cucumber revolution!
