Power in the Darkness?!!
TRB, Anyone?

Oh yes. Absolute classic. The title track still has the power to make jaws drop. Perhaps even moreso today than then. Also the 'Rising Free' EP is landmark music.

This is my kind of thread.

For me, probably Edward Ka-Spel/Legendary Pink dots. Got over 30 albums and nobody has heard of them.

But there are countless bands...

Burning skies of Elysium
Tuxedomoom
Modern Eon
Minimal Compact
Hector Zazoo
Holger Czukai
Danse Society
Dave Howard Singers
Moev
Skinny Puppy
Sopwith Camel
Sassafrass
Michael Chapman

Best post this now before I accidentally delete it like the last post on the other thread. FFS. :lolol:

Oh and my best wishes to all posters on this thread - some of the good guys.
Big thumbsup for Michael Chapman - saw him live; briliiant (and that was back when he still answered to 'Mike'!)
Also worthy of mention (if they count as obscure enough......)
Stone the Crows
Deaf School
The Valves
Van der Graaf Generator
The Kursaal Flyers
The Records
Cadobelle
Vinegar Joe
Solution
Sea Train
Al Stewart
The Ruts
UK Subs
Strife
Heron
Silly Wizard
The Rezillos

Great list: was listening to Michael Chapman’s ‘Fully qualified survivor’ the other day - an album that has completely stood the test of time. Seen him recently a couple of times in Brighton - at West Hill community centre, and amazingly upstairs at the Open House. His voice has got a bit feeble, but his open-tuned guitar playing still cuts the mustard

This was pretty mainstream, and frowned apon because of the 'gay' label applied during the big Gov Aids campaign, but they broke new ground I thought

....I know, I know, eighties....but we saw where it was going.

Did anyone else own Electric Storm album by White Noise? I sensed it was a bit niche and I’ve always regretted letting it go.

I was thinking about mentioning that one.

Did you see there's a documentary about Delia Derbyshire coming out next week?

I tend to love obscure US/Canadian stuff, with the obvious sprinkling of UK obscurities; Gracious, May Blitz, Cressida etc.

Granicus, Dust, Bloodrock, Bloody Mary, Dryewater, Cactus, Captain Beyond as well as private presses from the likes of Follys Pool et al litter my collection.

Recently I’ve picked up some cool albums from the xian rock box, such as Aim (for the highest) and Presence...

Music really is ****ing cool.

Cheers!

Some of those bands never broke through, or had any real success, even though it was deserved. One of those was Strife. they were a three piece band, apparently from Bootle. In the late 60s/early 70s they were the go to support act for gigs at Liverpool Uni, Friday/Saturday night dances/concerts - and in those years the main acts we had were stella - Pink Floyd, The Who, The Kinks, The Byrds. Derek and The Dominoes, Jethro Tull and more.
As often or not, Strife would be the support act. Never really appreciated - everybody was just waiting for the main act - but they were actually very good. As far as three piece guitar lead bands, up with the best of them. OK, forget the flared trousers, the huge sideburns and the Hair Bear Bunch hair cuts, they were good. It might not do them much good now, but putting up a few links (sound quality not good) is at least a bit of a tribute - hope a few people listen.

Probably not obscure enough for the usual suspects but I’ve introduced this album to many over the years. Axe Victim Be Bop Deluxe especially the brilliant No Trains to Heaven track.
