It's a quandary to be sure.
You watch football for years, and you more or less come to your definitive views of what the game is about. It's a simple game, not a deeply thought out game of chess as certain verbose egg-chasers would have you believe, after the fact, and if you're being honest, you say as you see.
Except when it comes to players wearing the stripes. Then it appears to be that a suspension of belief is required.
In the last couple of weeks it's really been bite-yer-tongue time on here if you want a quiet life. Thinking of in particular:
1. Yelldell - Only saw him against Derby, but for sure if he was playing for the opposition that day, the chants of 'Dodgy Keeper' would have been ringing out loud and clear from the South Stand.
2. Harding - 442 magazine is asking me to accept that Dan Harding is the 26th Best Player outside the Premiership. Frankly that's an insult to my intelligence.
3. McPhee - Put in a performance sadly reminiscent of John Piercy's last ever game. OK it was his first game back from injury, but there's ways and means of coming back from injury. And he shouldn't have come out for the second half any more than Piercy should have.
Trouble is, say it a week before the tide of opinion has turned and you're a BAD FAN.
