ill rephrase to keep you happy.

i found his arguments rather daft but its the same sort of stuff you hear day in day out from many stone age bigoted moronic religious groups......but not all.

I would actually say the absolute minority. I know dozens of Christians well, and about 2-3 hundred fairly well. I reckon at MOST, 2 or 3 of them would agree with his archaic views on homosexuality.

Problem is, your viewpoint on Christianity in England is probably mostly informed by the 0.5% of absolute maniacs who shout loudest and are picked up by the media etc.

Fair play if I've got you wrong, but I can understand why someone who doesn't really know many Christians personally would've gotten an entirely false viewpoint on them from what they read in papers etc.

Well...earlier in the thread you seemed to suggest that MOST religious people would agree with his point, which is patently bollocks...?

An individual's perception of what's 'true' christianity is irrelevant. It's how the leadership conduct themselves (as there're are so many variants) that counts. Take the Roman Catholics for example, you can see where this is going. If you can't, you're too deluded to be taken seriously.

Why is that "what counts"? You've completely decided on those parameters yourself. For me (and MILLIONS others) my faith is an ENTIRELY personal thing. What the pope does or thinks impacts nothing on my faith.

i was hoping you would have said 10 maybe 15 lunatics tops,by your own admission of 0.5% 200,000 absolute maniacs would seem rather a worryingly high number of maniac christians considering there are 40 million christians in the Uk,sorry i dont know the specific number of maniac christians in england.

badly worded i admit thats why i changed it from all to many ....but not all.
i thought this would make you happy, but clearly not

but back on topic i am glad to see you have no problem tearing up parts of the bible and believe there is nothing wrong with gay marriage,if only there were 200,000 or 40 million more like you

Zzzz....Jesus said VERY little about either abortion or gays. I generally stick with his teachings personally.

There are NOT 40 million practicing Christians in England. You know that full well.

I think a lot of people's views on Christianity in England is mostly informed by the larger percentage (though still minority) of American Christian groups, particularly the evangelicals, and the 'christian wing' of the republican party and the tea party, where their political influence makes them more of a threat than their numbers or the loudness of their voices.
