Does anyone know of any deals on Sky+ at the moment?

A friend of mine has just got Sky+ and it is awesome - thing is I had said to him that when he was going to go for Sky, to let me know as I could do recommend a friend and we would both get a free Sky+ box.

Then his missus goes into town and sees a Sky thing in the precinct offering free Sky+ to new customers and signs them up, not knowing about my arrangement with him.

So now he has a nice new Sky+ box for being a new customer and I, being a Sky customer for 8+ years and having my broadband and phone with them too, still don't have a Sky+ box!

Duh, yeah. Upgrade your normal Sky box to Sky+ for £75. Do you think I wouldn't have checked there first?!!?

Thanks for your suggestion though!!

Not the first time the words 'virgin' and 'dodgy box' have been used in a sentence together?!?!

Just GET it. WHATEVER they ask you to pay, just pay it. Immediately.
Sky+ is the greatest invention in the history of the world, EVER. And every second of your life you spend without this wondrous contraption in your house is another precious moment you will lose forever. Your heart, soul and mind are desolate and incomplete until you have immersed yourself in its menuey heaven.

I heard a while ago that if you phone them and say "i was speaking to someone the other day and they said i could get the sky plus box half price if i sign up now"

No offer being run at the time but apparently they gave it for half price. Might be worth a try

Would you have actually got a free sky + box anyway, that offer may have just been to new subscribers ie both of you had to be new.

I wouldn't have the first idea how to transfer something on Sky+ onto a blank disc.
But thanks for the discs anyway - I need a few to burn some music onto for the car.

I am guessing that he will be sending you blank DVDs. So unless your car has a DVD player, then they will be no good for the car.

I'm hoping he mixes up his DVD discs with his audio discs

Even if you had recommended him you wouldn't have technically got a free sky+ box... they charge the existing customer a £60 installation charge!
But i'd agree with others... well worth £75!

The SKY+ HD box is even better, that is of course if you have a HD telly. :)

The capacity is crap though, so I have to keep swapping the hard drives in and out for all the high def stuff that I am archiving!

Christ if you are that desperate for it shell out the 75 notes!

Well I would but I have just had to shell out over £500 to get mine and the missus cars MOT'd and taxed for 6 months, then yesterday the door fell off the fridge/freezer and the microwave packed up. :thud:

I just wanted to see if there were any deals around to cheer me and the missus up!

I got my Sky+ for £49 all in.
I had normal Sky and rang them and said that my picture was freezing all the time.
They said they would send an engineer out but there was a callout fee of £62.
I said that I would go elsewhere to freeview and I would cancel and they gave me Sky+ for £49.
The other good thing is that you can sell your old Sky box and handset on ebay for about £40 and virtually get your outlay back as well
