Cancel your sky subscription, then wait foer the offers to start coming in. We cancelled Sky back in January, and have just had Sky + installed. The offer was a free box and free installation.

Sky+ is the dogs dangly bits:love:

HD only on Sky+ HD boxes.

You can configure a DVD-RAM (but not any other kind) recorder to do pause and rewind but its a f***ing hassle (you need to watch TV through it and use two remotes to do it!)

Also the Sky+ has two tuners so you can watch one channel and record another, or record two. Can't do that with a Sky box plus a DVD recorder.

The thing I really love, I mean LOVE about Sky+, is watching something that you've STARTED recording but not finished.

Get in for the match at 4.30 on a Sunday when it kicked off at 4 ? No problemo hombré. Just watch from the start whilst its still recording. FF past the injuries and the rolling around and the shit, through the ads and eventually you'll catch up to LIVE.

I'm sorry, but thats just genius. There really is no other word for it. Apart from f***ing BRILLIANT. And maybe amazing. Well there's loads, but you catch my drift.

DVD-RAM does that as well.... but again, Sky+ has the two tuners. Biggest advantage it (and Freesat PVRs when they come on the market in a few months) has. That and being able to store more than about 8 hours shows like a DVD...

I try not to sound like crodo if I can help it, but it quite literally does REVOLUTIONISE the way you watch television. TV schedules mean nothing any more. I can record and watch what the hell I like, when I like. And its so piss-easy it borders on the insulting. I cannot comprehend how I ever survived without it.

I would pay a thousand pounds for Sky+ without a second thought. There, I said it.

Used to love that with 24. ALways got in on a Sunday night at 9.15 when the programme started at 9. Started watching it, by the time I finished fast forwarding adverts etc I had caught up.

Somehow I can't do that with live sport though. Somehow when I know what I am watching is not live, I feel cheated and less excited about it.

Its fine until the box dies, mine did on Tuesday morning, with about 80% of programmes on the disk, not all mine I may add, including Top Gear, havent watched one of this series yet :(. Got a replacement box yesterday, couldnt save the old one.

yeah, that's a downer alright.

that's why I ripped my HD box open and copied all my stuff I wanted to keep to an external disk using copy +.

appreciate it's not for everybody to attempt, but it gives you a little bit of re assurance in case the worst happens!

I now have about 8 500gb discs full of stuff :)

Just ordered it today (Easy10 swung the vote!!)

Told them I needed to update my old Skybox as it was a bit knackered but was a bit strapped for cash.

They did me Sky+ for 75 quid with free installation (usually 30 quid) thought this was OK.

I'll be SKY+ ing by Monday.

someone needs to hack Sky+ boxes so that when you watch recorded programs you can skip the ad breaks in a millisecond and not have to fast forward 30x!

This is brilliant but I find the only downside is you need your mobile off, house phone off hook and can't go online .....otherwise their is always some fucker that will spoil it for you

I have Sky+ (HD flavour) but, in fairness, a Freeview PVR does pretty much the same.

The Humax 9200 revolutionised our viewing habits when we got it.
