Black coffee and The Guardian. You cannot get a healthier breakfast.

Abort, retry, fail
A fail early on if you have children under the age of five, the question is geared towards 5-11.

Breakfast cereals tend to be [waterboy]the devil[\waterboy]. So much sugar.

There has been a focus on salt and fat, but not so much sugar.

Calorie wise Frosties and Special K are separated by just 1.

With Frosties being the least calorific.

Children at the lower end of that scale are notoriously fussy. For me the key thing is to feed them something they will eat as opposed to forcing a couple of mouthfuls of something "healthy" down them. They will have a full belly which means they will concentrate at school or have energy to go and play and excercise in the holidays. The key thing is then to balance the rest of their meals, i.e. Don't spend the rest of the morning stuffing them with sweets / fizzy drinks followed by a McDonald's lunch.

Our grandparents called it everything in moderation and used it way before ubiquitous surveys, contradictory government advice and the internet.

Breakfast should consist of nothing more than a slice of toast, a soft boiled hen's egg, a pot of tea and the occasional disapproving tut from behind the pages of The Times.

This is where marketing of breakfast cereals gets interesting. Low fat special k. But rammed with sugar! I think you'd be amazed how many parents buy into all that guff about diaries having added vitamins etc.

Quite. Abandoned the survey about three questions in, on account of it being weighed heavily in favour of coming to a conclusion that would do nothing but state the bleedin' obvious.

though note the above link, the amount of sugar is over twice as much in the Frosties as the Special K. its not surprising they have roughly the same calories as they are the same base product, but not all calories are the same. presumably there's more slower burn starches in the Special K. more surprising is how low the sugars are for regular cornflakes, half the special K.
