The only criticism I have is that some threads do become dominated by a high frequency of lengthy posts made by just a handful of people. This makes navigating them difficult, and I often lose interest. Other than this, I think the site is fine and has a broad range of topics, broad range of posts, broad range of posters. I also love the fact seemingly anything can be discussed here; we should by quite proud of the "Have you seen that Brighton chat room? They dont even talk about football" quote. This is, of course, not strictly true but it says a lot about the diversity on here.

Whilst I can only apologise profusely for the demise on this once great establishment that has happened under my watch, I'm all ears...

I'll consider anything, other than...

- Make it more aligned with your political views. I am repeatedly told NSC is too left-wing. I am repeatedly told NSC is too right-wing. I suspect that some folk are very sensitive to views that differ from their own - possibly a symptom of the main social media platforms creating one-sided echo chambers.

- Get rid of user X. You may think that Bozza is a complete and utter ****, but this isn't the place to stay. There's no need to name names.

So, how would YOU make NSC better?
I've often wondered if a couple of posters on here are actually paid political activists as they seem to spend all day on here every day posting huge essays expressing their views. So limit the length of posts and also the number of times people can post per day maybe.

I'd also dispute that its politics aren't aligned with the average Albion supporter. We're a city with two Labour and one Green MP, I'd agree that left of centre views are probably slightly more popular on NSC but I'd say that's pretty representative of the fan-base. But it's also fairly moderated and there's no suggestion that right wing views are being silenced.

I'm not sure why we're not Premier League standard. I haven't seen a league table of football fans forums for some time, but last I looked NSC was pretty near the top.

I think it's pretty good TBH. We cover a wide range of subjects, we don't ban away supporters - in fact, encourage them and there are lively posts. It's also a great information source: if I wanted to find a butcher in Blubberhouses or the best plum brandy I could buy in Uzbekistan, there's probably someone on NSC who knows.
Hmm..and those who don’t live in the city? Oh hang on I’ve a Labour MP now 🤦‍♂️

Did yours and @Taybha paths cross at our hallowed cricket club ? I'm sure there would have been plenty of trees such a fetish could have taken place at.
Never met him

This is how I see Guinness Boy realising he spelt Alan Cunnalie"s name correctly,or perhaps banning Bozza for too much information describing how Amazon have a gadget for that! on a how to wipe your own arse thread.

We used to have a pro isreali guy post millions of links on Israeli/ Gaza/ Palestine threads who most of us suspected was probably a mossad plant spreading disinformation

he soon went

I do agree that the moderating is over the top- if you have a look at some of the NSC Gold threads from 2003 then you can see how different (and in my opinion better) NSC was then, but I think that's a reflection on the UK in 2024, rather than NSC.
I love the NSC Gold threads, but you're right. Not only are those of us that were around then and now 21 years older, but there are simply things that you could say and do back then (say, for example, in an office setting) that you cannot now. And it's not that bad either - the Mrs works for a charity with a staff of about 90% women and it feels like they're off to HR every time they have a meeting. Someone's tone can be enough.

Moderating is collegiate, no matter what people think, and we frequently discuss things that are border line before any action. Regularly it is @Bozza 's guidance not to ban or alter. I've only been on a few other team's boards (as a lurker, normally when they are discussing us) but they seem to be more moderated. BBS and Shed End are for sure.

NSC brilliant. Same as it always has been.

The only thing I'd be considering as a change is the Albion women's team as that grows. Does it need a sub forum, at the moment it's all bundled on a couple of threads, which maybe doesn't quite reflect the interest of a team that get a few thousand watch every week.

NSC is what it is.
Sadly any thread is interupted at some point by someone going off on politics or complaining a member has upset them with a comment.
Limiting posts is no good but maybe limiting posts per thread per 48 hours would stop the endless posts I don't want to read.

Well done.

Now look very carefully at the area covered, you'll discover it covers the whole South East somewhat proving my point. If 29% are not in the South East are you stating of the 71% only 20% live outside Brighton but within the South East. That I doubt very much.

For me you (Bozza) have already improved it immensely (and I can see where the poster is coming from) over the last year ..top one ‘ignore thread’ function ..I occasionally get sucked in but generally shove what you can predict is going to be a binfest on ignore ….come here for the Albion primarily..general football/sport next ..all that other good stuff next …if the controversial ‘stuff’ wasn’t here I wouldn’t miss it but who’s too dictate what qualifies ..not me ..I wouldn’t want the responsibility of running a BB, so thanks for doing so

If I was to recommend a change, I'd enforce a maximum post length. Some posts normally on non-football threads can go on for quite a while.

As for the politics of the board I'd say most users are of the centrist variety rather than the left. Opinions of all persuasions are welcome on this board, left, centre or right. However the line the is drawn on offensive posts be it on the topics of race, gender, sexuality or religion. In the event that for want of a better phrase "strong" opinions have made it past the moderators gaze, they tend to get debated robustly by those who have the patience to do so.

IMHO NSC is just fine as it is, if you have the hump with a user or a thread use the ignore function and get on with your lives.
