What does everyone think about people who are continually changing their username?

I must admit, I can't see the point and probably take those who do less seriously if you never know what they're called from one day to the next.

I probably should have changed mine since I haven't lived in Tooting for over a year, but a) I can't be bothered and b) people know you by that name, for better or worse.

But I'm a reasonable man - if you can make the case why it's a great idea, let's hear it.

The only time I did used to do it was in the early days when you could do a single post as some 'comedy' one-off name vaguely relevant to the thread without re-registering. Like say Mark McGhee on a McGhee out poll. Or something equally hilarious. Actually it was years before he arrived, but that sort of thing.

There are not too many name changes - don't reckon I do more than 1 or 2 a month.

One user did ask me to change theirs a couple of days ago, having changed only a few weeks before. I politely told them to f*** off...

I changed mine from Phaedrus 'cos some dumb people were getting me confused with Perseus and sending me abusive pm's. I came clean though early on in my Hungry Joe posts. I guess if you've got multiple personalities in real life it can be a handy thing to do more often to save freaking people out too much.

The point is if you want to change your name - just drop a mod a PM and we'll do it - there is no need to start up another account...

Of course .... who would want to lose their highly prized post count and suffer the "Newbie" taunts. Not to mention the respect that comes with high post count recognition.

Interesting point. What is the post threshold that takes you from Newbie to established NSC junkie? 500? 1000? 1500? 2000+?
