Definitely November. The thought of six months ahead of rubbish weather and darkness is just so depressing.

This.

Clocks go back so dull, dark, damp, cold(er) & dank - and absolutely months away until any hope of it getting warmer, brighter & lighter again.
Basically, November [in the UK] is THE grimmest of all the months.

Brighton factually.....
I completely understand why January & February are way out in front in the poll. However November is the precursor to those dark soulless days, November comes round, you know you have at least four months of utter depression, it is the knowing that January & February are coming and boy do they drag, but it’s all Novembers fault…

Winter can do one.

Can't understand the February haters.

Days getting longer / lighter
The "end" of the long winter is in sight.
Only 28 days, so soon passes and pay-day comes around quicker too.
PANCAKES !!

Give yer head a wobble lads ...

November? Lovely! Crimbo on the way!

It's February for me. Cold, dark, shitty, the fish-ghost strands of wrapping paper of Christmas around the bins the only reminder of past jollity. No sign of Spring. And no wins in the EPL for the Albion.

Exactly that. Usually the coldest month. Just rubbish.

January brings the snow, Makes your feet and fingers glow.

February's ice and sleet, Freeze the toes right off your feet.

Welcome, March, with wint'ry wind, Would thou weren't not so unkind.

April brings the sweet spring showers, On and on for hours and hours.

Farmers fear unkindly May, Frost by night and hail by day.

June just rains and never stops, Thirty days and spoils the crops.

In July the sun is hot, Is it shining? No it's not!

August, cold and dank and wet, Brings more rain than any yet.

Bleak September's mist and mud, Is enough to chill the blood.

Then October adds a gale, Wind and slush and rain and hail.

Dark November brings the fog, Should not do it to a dog.

Freezing wet December, then... Both: Bloody January again!

Quoted this at work not long ago. No-one knew what I was on about. Youngsters.....

February/March for me - but more specifically, the last weeks of February and the first weeks of March. Winter is dragging on, it's not getting much warmer, the days are still dark, there's few signs of life in nature - and everything is mud.

By the end of March things start improving, but that end of Feb and start of March weeks are so tedious and dragging.

I like the Autumn months and early Winter - October to December - festive and pleasant, bonfires, Christmas, the leaves. And January can be cold and crisp and invigorating, as can early Feb. Then comes the miserable four weeks - and then spring starts again.

November is fine. The season of mellow fruitfullness is still going at this point. Sloes to pick for Gin, pickles to make and you can start getting stuck in to Winter warmer food
that needs a topping of mashed potato such as Cottage Pie, Fish Pie, Shepherds Pie and even Liver and bacon Casseroles and roasts. Its still good fishing as the Bass gorge on what's left of the Mackerel shoals and then start on the Herring, Squid still showing too. Time to start making warming soups and stews too..... February is the killer for me, days getting longer but still cold and usually miserable. Fishing poor, and too early to sow seeds or get growing anything useful.

January for sure- treat it as an opportunity to stay in as much as possible and recharge after Christmas and New Year. Having said that this year we have Palace on a Friday night to look forward to.

Another February vote here. Used to really like it as it's my birthday month, but now the number is getting a bit too high for my liking so I don't like it as much :lolol:

Love November, autumn leaves, smell of bonfires and the thicker jumper comes out.

July OUT, too 'kin hot.

If only we were still allowed to have bonfires, without getting snarky threatening letters from the council!

November can be a wonderful month - drove through the Forest of Dean today - stunningly beautiful colours, like the famed New England in the fall, but without the fear of unwanted iinteractions with wandering bears!
