Jim Rodwell fury at last-minute Notts County call-off

Rodwell was appointed Notts chief executive in February
Notts County chief executive Jim Rodwell is furious the game at Brighton was called off an hour before kick-off despite assurances it would go ahead.

Friday's postponement was the second Magpies match to fall foul of a frozen pitch at the last minute following the home call-off against Bournemouth.

"My heart goes out to the fans," Rodwell told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"This doesn't have to happen. A decision should have been made. If the game was in doubt at 2pm, call it off."

Rodwell added: "It's not the end of the world... No-one wants matches called off but sometimes it's inevitable; the weather at the moment is absolutely crazy."

Hypocritical prick.

I think the point is, Jim (if that is your real name), that the game wasn't in doubt at 2pm. Hence why they didn't.

What else could the ref have done as the temperature dropped suddenly between 5 - 6 pm so it was a very good possibility it wouldnt rise so he took the sensib;le decision and called it poff rather than start and then have to abandon it part way through. A nuisance yes but well done to the ref for taking decisive action.

I would be angry aswel, its pathetic as no consideration was given to the travelling fans.:glare:

The travelling fans do have minds of their own you know, and are allowed to take the weather forecast into account when deciding whether to travel or not. They must have known there were question marks over it.

Although the article on seagulls world mid afternoon saying game definitely on may have swayed my decision!

There was a game, I think last season(?) that was called off too early and Colchester game was perfectly playable except we would have got soaked, so I think they learned their lesson and didnt hurry to call it off, and got it completely wrong....

I think if it was to be called off it should of been called off earlier tbh. But I don't think he can be fuming about it, and can't blame us, it was the ref's decision in the end.

This one you mean?

The club are cautiously optimistic that the match with Notts County will go ahead tonight - but with the current cold spell, ground staff are regularly checking the pitch and temperature.
Staff intend to remove covers at 4pm, but have warned any sudden drop in temperatures could leave the game in doubt.

Can't see anywhere on there that the game was definitely on.
